First Stampin’ Blends Club

It was my first Stampin’ Blends Club meeting on Friday evening, and it was such fun! I’ve been using the Blends markers for a while now, so I’m used to using them. It was such a pleasure to see how much everyone enjoyed using them!

They’re very easy to use; the colours apply so smoothly, without leaving any streaky lines. Remember those markers when you were a kid in school? You would colour until you wore a hole through the paper, trying to get rid of the lines!

I wanted to give everyone a little surprise, so I used our Full Wide Stampin’ Cases, and created these marker holders for each of the ladies!

STAMPIN’ BLENDS CASE

I used the retired Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper to cover the exterior of the case. This serves two purposes; it’s decorative, and they can slide it out, practice their colouring, and slide it back in! 🙂 I then added each person’s first initial to the front of the case. The Large Letters Framelits are perfect for that; a quick run through the Big Shot with some Dapper Denim cardstock, and then attached to the front with some Mini Glue Dots.

On the inside, I created two boxes to hold the markers, so they don’t slide about or fall out of the case when it’s opened.

Everyone was very pleased with their gift! One case won’t fit the entire set, but it’s a good start for our first Club meeting.

BLENDS PROJECTS

After going over the important information of the care and use of the Blends, everyone did some practice colouring. Seriously, everyone caught on so quickly – it’s a testament to how easy these markers are to use! Then, it was time to move on to our first card. We used the Colour Me Happy stamp set, lanterns images.

Isn’t this cute? I saw a card like this made by my talented friend and SU! demonstrator Susan Horr, and adapted it. Thanks for sharing, Susan!

This stamp set was made specifically for using with the Stampin’ Blends (though of course you can colour the images with markers, Watercolour Pencils, etc.). There’s also a Colour Me Happy Project Kit that you can bundle with the stamp set, and save 10%! The kit is super cute; it makes 16 cards, and has gorgeous envelopes & embellishments.

The cardstock colours are Pool Party, Daffodil Delight and Whisper White. Tuxedo Black Memento ink is used to stamp the images and sentiment. The Blends markers used for colouring are Daffodil Delight (Light and Dark) and Pool Party (Light and Dark). I used the Stitched Shapes Framelits with the Big Shot for the sentiment layer in Whisper White and Pool Party.

INSIDE VIEW

Of course we stamped on the inside of the card! A panel of Whisper White cardstock is added, and stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

The next project uses the flower image from the same Colour Me Happy stamp set.

This time, the colour combination for the cardstock is Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette and Whisper White. The Blends markers used are Pink Pirouette Light & Dark, and Daffodil Delight Light. The image outlines and sentiments are stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

Layer the panels together with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and attach the retired silver ribbon with Tear & Tape on the back of the large Pink Pirouette panel.

Everyone also received a Colour Lifter, and practiced how to use it to remove ink, highlight and create texture.

Everyone enjoyed themselves, and we’re all looking forward to next month’s Club meeting!
