Lovely Floral Embossing Folder

LOVELY FLORAL EMBOSSING FOLDER

I seem to be on a ‘roll’ this week, with embossing! Today’s card features the Lovely Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (phew! say that 3 times fast!). Let’s just call it a DTIEF from now on, okay?

This embossing folder is part of the Share What You Love Suite of products; you may recall it was the special pre-order bundles that were available before the catalogue release. Well, now you can purchase each of the pieces of the suite individually!

The Dynamic Texture Impressions Embossing Folders are thicker than the usual embossing folders; they create deeper embossed impressions. Because they are thicker, you create your Big Shot ‘sandwich a bit differently; you use the Base Platform, then your cardstock inside the DTIEF, topped with a Standard Cutting Pad -then run through the Big Shot. You do NOT need the first Cutting Pad, as you would normally use.

SANDWICH REFERENCE

I’ve been talking a lot this week about ‘building sandwiches’ for the Big Shot. I’d like to share a helpful reference sheet from Stampin’ Up! You can refer to this if you have any confusion about which plates to use for which embossing folders or dies.

You can also find these references on pages 215 (for dies) and page 222 (for embossing folders) of the Annual Catalogue.

LOVELY FLORAL CARD

This card also uses the pretty Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP).

DETAILS

Use the Big Shot with the Lovely Floral DTIEF, with the ‘sandwich’ described above, to emboss your Blueberry Bushel cardstock panel. Cut a piece of Share What You Love Specialty DSP, and attach it down the left hand side of the embossed panel, with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Wrap a length of (retired) Gold ribbon – you can use the new 1/8″ Cord in Gold – the length of the DSP. Attach it in back with Tear & Tape.

Stamp the sentiment from the Rooted in Nature stamp set in Blueberry Bushel ink, onto Whisper White cardstock. Die cut the sentiment using the Big Shot with the Stitched Shapes Framelits, oval shape. Attach the sentiment with Dimensionals to the front as above, then attach the whole panel to a card base of Grapefruit Grove cardstock, again with Dimensionals.

To finish off the front, add a couple of the Faceted Dots in Grapefruit Grove to the sentiment oval.

For a little extra bling, I went over some of the raised areas with my Wink of Stella brush! It’s hard to capture in a photo, but I tilted the card, so you can see some of the shine.

The layer of cardstock, ribbon and sentiment go well with the embossed image, I think. Embossing adds extra to your card, without adding even more layers.
