Snow for Christmas

Hey stamper! Are you like me, and always wish for snow for Christmas? It doesn’t happen very often here on the west coast; it’s usually too warm, and we end up with either a ‘green’ Christmas, or a wet Christmas due to rain!

One sure way to guarantee that you have snow for Christmas is to add it to your cards!

SNOW FOR CHRISTMAS

Snow for Christmas

This lovely card comes together very quickly, which makes it easy for mass producing!

DETAILS

The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Soft Suede cardstock, scored and folded at 4 1/4″. The next panel is Whisper White cardstock that measures 4″ x 5 1/4″. It’s embossed with the Gently Falling Embossing Folder and the Big Shot.

To create the snowflakes, I use the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies, the Big Shot and die cut the snowflakes from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and Gold Foil paper.  The sentiment is created by combining the ‘merry’ and ‘christmas’ stamps from the Merry Cafe stamp set onto one block. Putting them together on the block makes it easier for aligning them, rather than stamping them separately. I inked them with Versamark ink, then stamped on Whisper White cardstock. After covering the stamping with Gold Embossing Powder, it is heat set with the Heat Tool.  Die cutting the oval is done with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits.

PUTTING IT TOGETHER

Once you’ve got all your pieces ready, it’s time to build your card front! First, wrap a length of Gold 1/8″ Ribbon across the bottom 1/3rd of the embossed panel. Then attach the sentiment towards the right hand side, over the ribbon. Tie a small bow with some extra ribbon, and attach it next to the sentiment with a Mini Glue Dot.

Now you can attach your snowflakes as you like.  I used a pattern to give the effect of them falling downwards, toward the bottom of the card (that’s what I was going for, anyway!). Once all your snowflakes are on, you can attach the front panel to the card base, using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

So pretty, Deborah! I love fall – but I’m looking forward to snow (as long as I don’t have to drive in it).

I totally agree, Buffy! Snow is much prettier when I don’t have to drive in it 🙂 (but I’m doing family Christmas dinner here this year – so I won’t have to!)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
