Wishing you Happy Easter today! I hope that however you’re spending your day, you’re enjoying yourself.
After a leisurely morning that includes egg hunting for my boys, we’ll be heading over to my brother & sister-in-law’s for dinner. My Dad and step-Mom will be there too. Sometimes we Skype with other family across Canada or even in Scotland. Yes, even though my boys are grown (19 and 23), they still hunt for chocolate eggs that I hide around the house! It’s pretty fun to watch 🙂 By now they know all my hiding spots, so they make it a race to see who can find the most, the fastest. Being good sports, they do divvy up the eggs afterwards. Fairness all ’round! Plus, they each have a basket of goodies.
Since I’m not doing the cooking this time, I thought I’d bring a little treat for everyone. I’ll put these out on each of the plates.
Mini Egg Cartons
I had just enough of the Mini Egg Cartons left over from my Easter class, so I could make one for everyone at dinner!
I made 2 of each design, using a variety of stamp sets both current and retired. You may recognize 2 of the designs; they’re the same as what we created in my Easter class. I’ll show you pictures of each set.
Ears To You!
This single stamp is so cute – I’ve had it for at least 3 years, and have no intention of parting with it!
First, I coloured the egg cartons using a Stampin’ Spritzer, and a combination of water, rubbing alcohol and Daffodil Delight ink refill. It takes about 1 full Spritzer to colour each carton. I added about 14 drops of ink each time, as the yellow can tend to be quite light. The Ears to You was stamped onto Whisper White cardstock in Daffodil Yellow, and layered onto Calypso Coral cardstock. The ovals were die cut using both the Stitched Shapes and Layering Ovals Framelits. A white Doily was cut in half, pleated and attached behind the ovals.
I still had some of the Metallic Ribbon from Sale-A-Bration, so I used the Gold colour to wrap around the carton. The ovals are attached over the ribbon using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally, the design is finished using the Enamel Shapes.
Flowers and Butterflies
These next egg cartons I decided to colour with Calypso Coral ink refill.
The Calypso Coral ink dried a very soft, pretty colour! I cut a piece of Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper for the top. To decorate it, I thought I’d get really springy, and add a flower and butterfly. The flower and leaf were die cut using the Big Shot and Botanical Builders Framelits – I’m so sad that these are retiring! I used Calypso Coral and Peekaboo Peach for the flowers and Pear Pizzazz for the leaf. I used the same colour inks and Sponge Daubers to colour around the edges of each, to give them more depth. They were attached to the top of the carton using Stampin’ Dimensionals, and an Enamel Shape in the middle of the flower.
The butterfly is die cut using the Butterflies Thinlits Dies, and the Big Shot with Precision Plate. Again, using my leftover Sale-A-Bration products, I used the Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper. The sentiment is stamped in Calypso Coral ink onto Whisper White cardstock. It’s from the Suite Sayings stamp set that is retiring from the Occasions Catalogue. I’m really sorry to say that the Tags & Labels Framelits are retiring as well. I don’t think I’ll be giving mine up just yet!
Punch Art Bunny & Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit
These next 2 cartons I featured in an earlier post.
Wishing You Happy Easter!
I hope you’ve had a wonderful Easter! Remember that although this Easter is now over (or ending, depending on when you’re reading this), you can still order the Mini Egg Cartons for next year’s celebration! They’re still on the Retiring List, but you’d better act fast, before they’re gone. Quick, like a bunny! 🙂
