Today is April 1st – April Fool! I have no new project today to share with you – I’m sorry! It’s not because I don’t have supplies, or even ideas. Lately it seems that my concentration has been out of whack. Like, I get an idea, but can’t execute it. I start a project, but can’t finish it. There have been a lot of makers talking about this problem. I’ve decided that it’s due to the current uncertainty in the world. How long will this virus last? When will we be able to go out for coffee with friends?
Sometimes easier said than done, I know! I also find that at different times during the day, my mood changes, too. One idea to stay positive is to not spend too much time on social media. We’re constantly bombarded by everyone’s opinions, sharing of bad news, and news updates from around the world. It can be overwhelming, when there’s so much happening that we have no control over. So, spend less time, or ‘curate’ what you’re reading. Stop following that person or business that only shares doom & gloom. Start following pages that share more uplifting photos, quotes, etc. Me – I just starting following ‘All About Squirrels’! Yes, I’m serious!
This is one of the little cuties who regularly visits our backyard. He & his friends are always free to share the food in the ‘bird feeders’, along with the birds (I’m very generous when I put out the food!). Search other sites for subjects that make you happy, and inspire you. Animals, crafting, traveling, cooking – you name it, you’re bound to find at least a dozen pages on it!
We don’t want to be stuck to screens 24/7, so be sure to read a book or twenty! I love to read, and books can be ordered online & delivered to your door. Or if you’re like me and have an extensive library already – reread some of your favourites! I actually do both – order new, and reread old books! Another thing I love is word search puzzles – a great way to pass some time.
Right now, I’m sad because we’re having to postpone our trip (was supposed to happen in May) to Ukraine. But – it’s just a postponement! We’re carrying on with listing the places & sights that we want to see. Restaurants to try, and me trying to learn some of the language. So go ahead – plan your next trip, whether it’s halfway around the world, or just to your local campground.
We need to look forward, having something to look forward to, and know that this too shall pass. Maybe like a kidney stone – but it’ll pass! And we’ll all have a better appreciation for our local barista, mail carrier, salon owner and everyone else we’ve been missing. Let’s also keep spreading our appreciation & love to everyone in essential services – the grocery clerk, the pharmacy clerk, the truck driver, the transport refrigeration mechanic (my son), as well as doctors, nurses, paramedics and search & rescue teams.
Speaking of looking ahead – in the short term, the Scrap ‘N Stamp team has a fun Blog Hop coming up this Friday! We’ll have loads of inspiration for you, as well as the Facebook challenge, and prizes. Next month, Scrap ‘N Stamp has something fun cooked up for the entire month!! Be sure to stay tuned for that 🙂
Until next time – try your best to stay positive, stay creative & have fun!
