Autumn Days Inspiration Challenge

While the calendar hasn’t declared it to be officially ‘fall’ yet, the weather certainly has! The cool, wet & windy weather has joined us here on the west coast. I hope you’re looking forward to fall, and the beautiful colours it brings with it. I know I am! This week, the Paper Craft Crew has an Autumn Days Inspiration Challenge for you.

Here’s your inspiration picture! Whether you choose to use the colours, or the items in the photo – it’s up to you! It’s also up to you which stamp sets, inks, etc. to use, as well as the design of your project. I can’t wait to see what you create for one of my favourite times of the year.

THINKING OF YOU

I couldn’t resist bringing out my latest Concord & 9th bundle, called Uplifting Thoughts. I just used it for a post last week (you can see it HERE), and it’s a great set for this theme.

This time, I didn’t use the coordinating die, but rather created a blended background for some heat embossing.

CARD DETAILS

Start with a panel of white cardstock, and mask off the top and bottom, leaving a 2″ wide horizontal strip in the middle. Next, use your blending tools/brushes to apply Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber and Fired Brick Distress inks in the middle. Apply one colour at a time, starting with lightest (Amber) to darkest (Fired Brick). Go back between each colour, blending them smoothly together.

After blending, remove the masks, and set up the panel and leaf image stamp from the Uplifting Thoughts stamp set in your stamp platform. Cover the stamp with Versamark ink, and stamp onto the blended panel. You can re-ink and stamp again, to be sure you have good coverage. Now, remove the panel from the stamp platform. Cover the stamping with Copper embossing powder, and set with a heat tool.

Stamp the sentiment onto a strip of white cardstock in Fired Brick ink, in your stamp platform. Next, stamp over the sentiment again in Versamark ink. Cover the sentiment with clear embossing powder, and heat set.

Attach a panel of dark orange cardstock to a dark red card base. Now attach your blended panel on to that, with foam tape. Glue a length of burlap ribbon to the bottom of the panel, and then attach the sentiment on top of that with foam tape.

These colours really feel like autumn, to me. The copper embossing adds shine as well as warmth. Plus you have plenty of textures, with the ink blending, heat embossing and the burlap ribbon.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :)

    1. I’m glad that you like this autumn card, Buffy! And I’m so glad you said cider, and not pumpkin-spice (I’m not a pumpkin-spice fan) 😉

    1. I’m glad that you like this version as well, Susan. I can’t wait to see what you create with this stamp set! 🙂

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
