Beautiful Blizzard with Brusho Background

BEAUTIFUL BLIZZARD WITH BRUSHO BACKGROUND

If you love snow, you’re probably going to want to add the Beautiful Blizzard Bundle to your next Stampin’ Up! order. It contains the Beautiful Blizzard stamp set and the Blizzard Thinlits Die. The stamp set is available in both wood mount and clear mount, and has a total of 11 stamps.  The Blizzard Thinlits Die is one large die, measuring 4″ x 5″, so it’s perfect for creating a full card front. It die cuts many snowflakes of different sizes and shapes – which of course you use on other projects! So, you get to use both the positive and negative of this die cut. I created my Beautiful Blizzard with Brusho Background by using the large die cut, and my Brusho Crystals to create the background on a separate piece of cardstock.

SPARKLING SNOWFALL

I realized too late – after I had already assembled the card front – that I hadn’t taken a picture of my Brusho background! So sorry! But you can see it peeking through the snowflakes, which was the whole idea anyway.

CARD FRONT DETAILS

First, create your Brusho background, to give it time to dry. Start with a panel of either Watercolour Paper, Whisper White, or Shimmery White cardstock.  Since it’s going behind the glimmer paper, I used Whisper White. Sprinkle on the Brusho Crystal Colours you want to use. I used the Prussian Blue from our Stampin’ Up! box set, then I added in Purple and Turquoise from another box set I had bought from England. (yes, I love my Brusho!). Use a Stampin’ Spritzer filled with water, and spritz the crystals. Watch them burst and move; add more crystals or water, until you’re happy with your background.

While your background panel is drying, use the Big Shot and Blizzard Thinlits Die to with Silver Glimmer Paper to die cut your front panel. Depending on the tension of your Big Shot, you may find it easier to use the Precision Plate for a clean cut. My Big Shot is fairly ‘tight’, so I find that using the Magnetic Plate, and running it back & forth about 2 times each way, does the trick! Remember to save all of those beautiful silver snowflakes! You’ll be sure to use them on another project or two. There’s 2 easy ways to remove all of the snowflakes & dots from the glimmer paper – use either the Big Shot Die Brush, or the new Take Your Pick Tool!

I wanted to sentiment to be in 2 parts, rather than the 1 large square.  To do that, instead of taking the time to mask & stamp each half separately, I simply stamped it twice, and cut it in half! First, ink up the sentiment – from the Beautiful Blizzard stamp set – in Versamark ink, then immediately in Pacific Point ink. Stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock. Cover the sentiment with Clear Embossing Powder; shake off any excess powder, then set with the Heat Tool.  The rectangle strips seemed a bit plain, so I sponged on some Gorgeous Grape ink with a Dauber, then used the 1/2″ Circle Punch to snip off alternate corners of each strip.

Now your background panel should be dry! Attach the glimmer die cut panel by placing Stampin’ Dimensionals in each corner on the back of the glimmer paper, and strategically on each edge and in the middle. You may have to either cut the Dimensionals to size with your Paper Snips, or use the Mini Dimensionals. Next, attach the sentiment pieces on the top left and bottom right (you don’t want to cover up too many of  those beautful snowflakes, or the background!) with Dimensionals. Finally, attach your front panels to a base of Pacific Point cardstock .

Glimmer paper is difficult to photograph; it’s really very pretty in real life!

STAMP INSIDE

Add a panel of Whisper White cardstock to the inside of your card.

The sentiment is from the Beautiful Blizzard stamp set. Stamp in Pacific Point ink. Add some snowflakes in Pacific Point and Gorgeous Grape inks, also from this stamp set. I think the part about making this card that takes the longest is the drying time for your Brusho background!

You can order all of the supplies to make your own card, just like this! I’m looking forward to trying different colour combinations with the Brusho, as well as using our Classic Ink pads with Aqua Painters, to create a watercolour wash background. Even sponging or using the brayer would be awesome! You’re only limited by your imagination 🙂 Order these supplies by clicking on the product images below, or on my signature. I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project; whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :) If you're in Canada, you can Join My Team as a SU! demonstrator. 1. Thanks, Susan! Seems like we were on the same ‘snowflake’ wavelength today 🙂 But who could blame us – they’re so pretty!

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
