Beautiful Peacock Colour Challenge

Welcome back, stamping friend! This week the Paper Craft Crew has a colour challenge for you! It’s been a little while since we had one of these, so I hope you’re creative mojo is with you.

PCC276 COLOUR CHALLENGE

Beautiful Peacock Colour Challenge

All you have to do is choose 3 of the 4 colours shown, and include them in your project. Using white, vanilla, black & brown are considered ‘freebies’ to use, as they’re neutrals. I decided to use the light pink, reddish pink and metallic for my project. Oh – and you can use whatever stamp set you want; it doesn’t have to be the Beautiful Peacock set!

Keeping your colour palette to 3 colours really simplifies things!

DETAILS

You can see that the card base looks a little different. I didn’t create my own background; I actually used one of the ard bases from the Color Me Happy Project Kit! This kit was created to be used with the Blends markers, but of course you can use it however you like!

Cut 2 banner shapes; one from Silver Foil Paper, the other from Powder Pink cardstock. Use the Banner Triple Punch to create tails on one end of each banner. Attach the banners to the card base, using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Next, stamp the peacock image from Beautiful Peacock onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock. I used Powder Pink ink for the bird and long tail feathers, and Rich Razzleberry ink for the plumage and shorter feathers. Stamp all of the tail feathers a 2nd time on extra Whisper White, and hand cut them with the Paper Snips.

Die cut the peacock image with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits. After removing that die cut, use the next larger Layering Oval Framelit to die cut one more layer from the same piece – this will give you another ‘ring’ to layer, with parts of the stamped tail feathers on it.

Finally, stamp the sentiment from the Beautiful Peacock stamp set onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock in Versamark ink. Cover it with Silver Embossing Powder, and set with the Heat Tool. Cut a slightly longer piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock to layer behind it; snip tails on each end.

PUT IT TOGETHER

First, attach the narrow ring that you die cut, on top of the 2 layered banners, with Liquid Glue. Next, use Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the main peacock image, lining it up with the tail feathers on the narrow ring.  Now attach the hand cut tail feathers onto the stamped image using Liquid Glue. Only attach onto the stamped image part; leave the long tails unattached.

Layer the sentiment pieces with Dimensionals, and attach it underneath the peacock image. Finally, add some Metallic Enamel Shapes in Silver to the card front.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project; whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :) If you're in Canada, you can Join My Team as a SU! demonstrator. If you're in the Great Vancouver area, you're welcome to join my classes - we always have fun!
