Birthday Basics Turnabout Stamps

BIRTHDAY BASICS TURNABOUT STAMPS

Birthday cards are usually really fun to make, and you always need to have extras on hand. Today’s project uses the Birthday Basics Turnabout Stamps from Concord & 9th. This is another in their set of Turnabout Stamps, which recently celebrated 2 years! I only started using this type of stamp this year, when Concord & 9th brought out their Turnabout Tool Kit, which included the Turnabout Jigs, along with the Everyday Bouquet stamp set and dies. You can now purchase the Jigs separately – and they make lining up the Turnabout stamps so easy!

HOORAY FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY!

This fun Birthday Basics Turnabout stamp set gives you not just the large background stamp, but also fun sentiments and extra images of stars & confetti.

How fun is this?! The background is filled with everything you need for a party – banners, cupcakes, party hats, streamers & ice cream!

CREATE YOUR BACKGROUND

Follow the directions for using the Turnabout Jig, and lining up your stamp in the MISTI, or other stamp positioner.  As you’ll be stamping 4 times (turning between stamping) choose 4 colours for your background. I used some of my Stampin’ Up! Classic stamps, in Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Blueberry Bushel and Grapefruit Grove.  It is so fun watching all of the images come together with different colours, as you’re stamping and turning. Take a look – you can see that the ice cream cones and cupcakes are each 2 different colours. And each letter in the banner is a different colour! You don’t have to worry about lining up these little images, as you did that at the start. Easy, peasy!

CREATE YOUR CARD

Once your background is complete, stamp the sentiment onto a strip of white cardstock. I used Grapefruit Grove and Versamark ink, and embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder. Add some details by stamping the stars and confetti images in 2 different colours, around the sentiment. Die cut the sentiment, plus a strip of cardstock to layer behind it. I used the Everyday Bouquet dies to cut the sentiment, and then just used the shape as a template to cut the cardstock behind it.

Pop up your background panel with foam tape or squares onto a cardstock panel, and then onto a card base. I chose to use the same colours that I used in creating the background. Loop some ribbon behind the sentiment panels, and add them across the middle of the card front.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :)
