Blends are Back in Town

BLENDS ARE BACK IN TOWN!

The Blends are back, the Blends are back…. Okay, if you’re of ‘an age’, this title may have reminded you of a song by a group called Thin Lizzy back in 1976, called The Boys are Back in Town. If not – or may especially if you do – here’s a video of this song. *you’re welcome*

I actually did not know that they were from Ireland! The more you know, right?!

THE BOYS HAVE LEFT – NOW THE BLENDS ARE BACK!

Okay – now that I left you with that earworm, let’s talk about our Stampin’ Blends Markers!  We’ve been waiting since the new catalogue was released for the arrival of the new colours – and now they’re here!

There are 11 new colours, and they’re available either in Singles – you can choose the Light or Dark – and in the Combo pack, with both the Light & Dark. I always go with the Combo pack, for best blending results.  The new colours are:

BLENDING WITH THE BLENDS

It’s fun to achieve the shading a contouring with the Blends markers. I had shared a quick tutorial in one of my newsletters a few months ago. I thought I’d share it here, in case you aren’t a subscriber. (why aren’t you a subscriber? you’re missing out on so much!)

SUPPLIES:

Stampin’ Blends Markers:

Light Pool Party (144595)

Dark Pool Party (144594) (or purchase the combo pack 144605)

Light Bermuda Bay (144580)

PAPER:

Whisper White cardstock (100730) 2” x 2”

ACCESSORIES:

Balloon Bouquet Punch (140609)

INSTRUCTIONS:

For the purpose of showing this technique, I have punched 6 large balloons using the Balloon Bouquet Punch. For your project, you can use as many balloons as you need.

  1. Colour half of the balloon with the Dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blends Marker.
  2. Colour a dark ‘shadow’ line on the outer edge with the Light Bermuda Bay Blends Marker, over top of the Dark Pool Party.
  3. Use the Dark Pool Party Blends marker to blend to two colours.
  4. Colour the rest of the balloon with the Light Pool Party Blends marker.
  5. Use the Light and Dark Pool Party Blends markers to blend where the colours join.
  6. Go over the entire balloon with the Light Pool Party Blends marker to smooth any blending lines that may remain.

OTHER COLOUR COMBINATIONS:

I’ve also done samples using the following colour combinations of Blends Markers:

Light Daffodil Delight (144586), Dark Daffodil Delight (144585) (combo pack 144603) and Light Pumpkin Pie (144578)

Light Pink Pirouette (144593), Dark Pink Pirouette (144592) (combo pack 144604), Light Rich Razzleberry (144584)

This blending technique works great with other line images where you want to create shadows and depth.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project; whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :) If you're in Canada, you can Join My Team as a SU! demonstrator. If you're in the Great Vancouver area, you're welcome to join my classes - we always have fun!
