A good friend of ours, who is a general contractor, recently did a ‘refresh’ of my tiny en suite bathroom. This is the Blossoming Bouquet thank you card I made to say thank for his hard work!
BLOSSOMING BOUQUET THANK YOU
This is an older Stampin’ Up! set that was a ‘hostess’ set, I got when I was a demonstrator. I’ve kept it, because I just love the basket of flowers!
It was fun & relaxing to sit and colour this image with my alcohol markers. Sometimes I’m in such a rush to create a volume of cards, that I forget how enjoying it can be.
On a piece of white cardstock, stamp the image in Nocturne ink. Cover with clear embossing powder and heat set. Repeat this with the sentiment from the SU! Rooted in Nature stamp set. By clear embossing your image, you’ve ensured that there will be no smudging of your outline. (I’m impatient, and don’t always remember to wait until the ink is dry). Choose the colours to use for your flowers. I chose my Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend Markers in Bright Pink and Citrus. For the leaves, I used the Light Green Blend. Colour and shade the basket with the Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers in Sand and Natural Brown. Next, use a blending tool to apply Broken China Distress Oxide ink around the edges.
To create a frame for the flower basket, use 2 sizes of square dies and black cardstock. Next, cut a piece of fun foam the same size as the image & frame panels together, and glue them onto the front. Now attach these to a panel of dark pink cardstock, towards the top two-thirds of the panel. Next, layer the sentiment strip onto a piece of black cardstock, and pop it up onto another piece of fun foam. Finish off the card front by adding some pink metallic dots.
Adding the black frame and layer behind the sentiment really steps up this card from ‘nice’ to ‘oooh, nice!’
