Broadway Birthday Challenge Card

BROADWAY BIRTHDAY CHALLENGE CARD

This weekend, I was  busy working on my newest tutorial set, to be released on August 1st. Then I realized that I didn’t have a card ready for today’s post! So I grabbed some inspiration from the Paper Players Challenge. I created this Broadway Birthday challenge card, for their PP403 sketch challenge.

CHALLENGE SKETCH

This is the sketch that was provided. I liked the way all the base layers are lined up with the top of the card base.  If you want to join in, their challenge is open until Aug. 3rd.

First, I decided which designer papers I would use for the background pieces. Then I decided what I would put in the focal area.

BROADWAY BIRTHDAY

I love the fun, bright colours and patterns in the Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper, so that’s what I decided to use.

CARD DETAILS

I followed the sketch design as it was shown in the sample. I changed it up a bit by adding the Basic Black cardstock layers behind the 1st layer of DSP, and the focal tag shape. The card base is Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, and the DSP is two different patterns from the Broadway Bound Specialty DSP. Create the tag shapes in Whisper White and Basic Black cardstock, using your Paper Snips to remove the top corners.

Stamp the ‘make a’ from the Broadway Birthday stamp set, in Memento  Black ink. Use the Big Shot with the Broadway Lights Framelits to die cut the word wish twice; once in Lemon Lime Twist and second in Basic Black. Create a drop shadow look by attaching the black die cut behind the Lemon Lime Twist. Attach the layers together with Mini Glue Dots. Next, attach the die cut word to the tag shape with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To finish off the front, die cut the party hat from the Broadway Bound Specialty DSP with the Broadway Lights Framelits – I love that they fit together! – and attach it above the sentiment with another Dimensional. Tie a knot in a piece of Lemon Lime Twist ribbon, and attach it under the party hat with a couple of Mini glue dots.

I think all the layers on this card make it a lot of fun!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project; whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :) If you're in Canada, you can Join My Team as a SU! demonstrator. If you're in the Great Vancouver area, you're welcome to join my classes - we always have fun!
