Hello stamping friends!   Our weather here has taken a bit of a turn; it’s cooled down, gone a bit gray outside with some rain showers expected.  Considering our lack of snow this winter, we can use all the rain we get, for our reservoirs.  It’s going to be a drryyy summer!

The colour challenge at Create with Connie & Mary helped perk up my morning 🙂  It includes one of my favourite In Colours, Blackberry Bliss!

Here are the colours that we are to use in our project for this challenge:

CCMC344 colours

Since I’m still in ‘birthday’ mode – we’ve had several in our family since the start of January – I came up with this card:

CCMC344 card

I started with a card base of Rose Red, then layered a panel of Blushing Bride on top of that, first using my 1″ Circle Punch to snip out two opposite corners.

I love using the Balloon Bash stamp set – it’s got lots of great sentiments and image stamps – and I love that cheeky little #your welcome at the bottom of this stamp!

Are you wondering how I got the perfectly shaped background to the sentiment stamp?!  Well, I used a trick that I learned from the Leadership convention – I inked up and stamped the reverse side of the stamp, in Blushing Bride!  That’s right – simply apply the stamp with the words side (the side you usually apply the ink to) against the block – then ink up the flat back, and stamp onto your card stock!  Then I reversed the stamp (after cleaning the back, of course) to the proper way, and stamped the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss on top of the Blushing Bride background.  I stamped the banner portion again on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock, cut it out with my Snips, and layered it on top using Stampin’ Dimensionals, to add some extra pop to it.

I then stamped the 2 balloons onto the Whisper White panel in Rose Red, then stamped & embossed them again on scrap Whisper White card stock, cut them out & layered them, again using Dimensionals, so they look more like they’re floating.

I again used my 1″ Circle Punch to punch off the same corners as on the Blushing Bride, sponged the edges with a Dauber and Blackberry Bliss ink, and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to add this layer to the card base.

I hope you’ve enjoyed  this challenge card – I hope you’ll head over to the Create with Connie & Mary site and check out the other submission for this challenge, along with the great cards that the design team created for inspiration!

Remember to come back later today, for the Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop!

See you then,

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project; whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :) If you're in Canada, you can Join My Team as a SU! demonstrator. If you're in the Great Vancouver area, you're welcome to join my classes - we always have fun!
