COPY AND SHARE EVERYTHING

There’s a saying in the stamping world (possibly the crafting world) that is shortened to CASE. It stand for Copy and Share Everything. Basically, what it means is that it’s okay to get your ideas from someone or someplace else, especially when you’re blocked. The best practice is to make sure you give the original person or place the credit for their original idea. One of the best places for sources to CASE – copy and share everything – is your own copy of the Stampin’ Up! Annual and Holiday catalogues!

Seriously – that’s why there are all of those amazing projects in the catalogues; so you can see how the products are used, and different uses for them. You know the saying; imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. That means you liked something so much, you had to make it yourself! I am always sincerely chuffed (that means pleased) when someone cases one of my projects 🙂

Sometimes I am so in love with a new set, that I get ‘frozen’; so many ideas, and none of them seem to come together. I find that I can jump start myself by CASEing something from the catalogue. That’s what I did with today’s card – I CASEd one of the cards on page 18 of the Holiday catalogue, using the Signs of Santa stamp set and Santa’s Workshop Speciality Designer Series Paper.

SNOWMAN’S GIFT

This is the same design from the Santa’s Workshop DSP that I featured in an earlier card this week- you can see that one IN THIS POST. I created that one first, for the Paper Craft Crew Challenge Design Team that I’m part of, then decided to go ahead and copy the oval shape used in the catalogue.

Copy and Share Everything

I just love the expression of the snowman – with his hands raised to his heart, like ‘oh my goodness – for me!?’  You can see a bit in this picture the white flocking of the snowflakes and the elf’s hat trim & pom pom – that’s what makes this paper ‘specialty’.

CARD FRONT DETAILS

Start with a Garden Green cardstock base. Use the Stitched Shapes Framelits to die cut the focal image from the Santa’s Workshop Specialty DSP.  I found that using the Paper Snips to cut around it first made it easier to fit in the Big Shot, without having to sacrifice a lot of the other images on the sheet.

Use the Santa’s Signpost Framelits with the Big Shot and die cut 1 large, 1 medium and 4 small snowflakes from Whisper White cardstock. Measure and then cut 2 strips from the different patterns of the same DSP; I chose the trees, and the red scallop trim from around the edges of one of the other sheets.

Attach the 2 strips of DSP to the card front, with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Next, attach the focal image over that, with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Attach the snowflakes with the liquid glue, layering 1 small one in the middle of the 1 large one, to place on the left hand side.

For the sentiment, I used the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set. I thought this sentiment worked perfectly with the gift giving elf! Stamp it in Real Red ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. Trim it down, and attach it under the image, with Dimensionals.

Copy and Share Everything

How quick & easy was that?! I could see this card being made in multiples, for giving out to friends and co-workers.

INSIDE STAMPING

As always, add a panel of Whisper White cardstock to the inside of your card.

Copy and Share Everything

Stamp the sentiment, again from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set, in Real Red ink. Die cut 2 more medium snowflakes in white with the Santa’s Signpost Framelits, and attach them with liquid glue. Isn’t this just the perfect sentiment duo for this image? Obviously, the elf and the snowman are friends 🙂

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project; whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :) If you're in Canada, you can Join My Team as a SU! demonstrator. If you're in the Great Vancouver area, you're welcome to join my classes - we always have fun!
