Creation Station Blog Tour – Harvest Party!

creation station header

Welcome, Stamping Friends, to the Harvest Party edition of the Creation Station Blog Tour!

If  you started at the beginning of the Tour, you’ve arrived here from the wonderful Jennifer Downey’s blog – how could you not love her projects?!  She always inspires me 🙂  as do the rest of this incredible design team!

The Tour runs in a circular fashion; everyone’s blogs are linked to the person before & after them, so as long as you keep clicking through, you’ll see all the amazing creations.  If you want to hop around, or visit a specific blog, you can go to the list at the bottom of this post, and click on the link(s).

Every 2 weeks, the group  gets together and creates projects based on a selected stamp set, theme or accessory.  The choices for this Tour were

  • Stamp Set: For All Things (Holiday Catalog)
  • Theme: Harvest Party.
  • Accessory: Petite Cafe Gift Bags

Well, I don’t own the For All Things stamp set, nor do I have the Petite Cafe Gift Bags  🙁   I know, I know – I thought I owned just about everything in the catalogue, too!)  So,  without those two options, I hope you’ll be happy with what I came up with for the Harvest Party theme.

So you can see that I decided to create a candle decoration, as well as a couple of gift boxes using the adorable Curvy Keepsake Gift Box Die!  Let’s start first with the candle decoration; here’s a closer picture, so you can see what I did:

Creation Station - Candle Wrap

Yes, I did say that I didn’t have the For All Things stamp set – but I do have the Holiday Catalogue, so what I did was trace the outline of the oak leaf from the picture of the stamp set!  First I traced the leaf onto Vellum Cardstock, then traced it onto another piece of  Vellum cardstock, and cardstock in Baked Brown Sugar, Cajun Craze and Hello Honey.   Of course, fall leaves are hardly ever in ‘pristine’ condition, so I put a couple of drops of  Real Red re-inker into a Stampin’ Spritzer with some rubbing alcohol, and lightly spritzed all of the leaves I had cut out.  While they were wet, I crumpled them up in my hands, giving them that worn look.  Then I sponged them with Sponge Daubers and ink pads of Real Red, Hello Honey and Cajun Craze.  I did the same with the Vellum leaves.  Do you like the button in the center?  You can make one of those!!  It’s made using our versatile Simply Pressed Clay and the Buttons Molds.  To achieve the colour, I held the button with a pair of tweezers, and pushed it into the Cherry Cobbler ink pad.  I then used the Blackberry Bliss Marker to accent the ridges on the outer rim, as well as the holes in the center.  Then I glued a bow made of Linen Thread into the centre.

Once my leaves were ready (using the alcohol in the spritzer means they dry fairly quickly), I wrapped my candle with our gorgeous Burlap Ribbon.  I then attached some looped Linen Thread and attached it to the Burlap Ribbon with hot glue.  Using hot glue again, I attached each of the leaves.  Finally, I glued on my custom-made button to the center.  Voila!!  I’m planning  on decorating a couple more candles like this, for our Thanksgiving table!

Here are my next projects – they’re the same, but different!

Creation Station - Harvest Theme

It’s official – I’m in love with the new Curvy Keepsake Gift Box!  I love the size, the shape, and the fact that you can use any type of paper or card stock to create with it.  The one on the left is a little gift box that I’ve stamped & sponged to look a bit like a pumpkin; the other I’ve hidden something different inside!

Curvy Keepsake Box Pumpkin

For this box, I used Pumpkin Pie card stock, and cut it with the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits Die.  Then I stamped the lines using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, and sponged the edges, all in Pumpkin Pie ink.  This little box goes together so quickly & easily – glue the 2 pieces of the box together, bring the 4 top pieces together, and you’re done!  I didn’t need to tie anything onto the handles to keep it closed, but I wanted to add one of the little tags that come in the Die set (it has 3 different shaped tag dies, along with the box die piece).  Using the Something to Say stamp set, I stamped the sentiment in Pumpkin Pie onto Very Vanilla card stock, and sponged the edges as well.  I then used another of the oak leaves that I had traced and cut out in Hello Honey, and attached the 2 of them to the box again using the Linen Thread.

Creation Station Curvy Keepsake Vellum

This Curvy Keepsake box isn’t made from yellow card stock – it’s made from Vellum Card stock!  It look yellow-ish in this picture, because I tucked a little battery operated tealight inside, and lit it up!  I just love the soft glow it gives off; I’m thinking of making a whole garland of these, and stringing them up as little accent lights for Thanksgiving!  Wouldn’t that be cute!?  Or, for Hallowe’en you could leave off the tags, and instead add some spooky eyes & a mouth –  and you’ve got a ghost! 🙂

After assembling the box, I stamped the sentiment in Hello Honey onto Whisper White card stock, and cut it out using one of the other tag shapes that come with this die set.  I also used another of the oak leaves traced from the For All Things stamp set, and I also stamped and cut out the oak leaves from the Lovely as a Tree stamp set.  I used the Baby Wipe technique to achieve the multiple colours in the leaves.  Pretty cool, right? 🙂

After tying on the tags with Linen Thread, I added a little bow of Hello Honey 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon to the handle, to finish it off.

Well, that’s it for my projects this time – I hope you’ve enjoyed them and gotten some inspiration for your own creations!   I hope you’ll leave a comment to let me know you were here, and what you thought of my projects; I just love reading your comments.
