Creation Station Blog Tour – New Catalogue, New Products

creation station header

Welcome to another edition of The Creation Station Blog Tour!  You asked for more new project sharing – and we’re happy to deliver 🙂

Honestly, I was so wowed by the recent Occasions catalogue, that I was prepared to feel a bit deflated with this new catalogue.  Well – I should know better!!  Stampin’ Up! has another hit on their hands, with so many terrific new stamp sets, tools, dies and the new In Colours, that I’m sure this year will fly by, and I’ll be once again saying a wistful good-bye to many things I didn’t have a chance to use!

So here we are with another blog tour to give you tons of inspiration on using the new stamps and products, so that you will enjoy this next year with your new stamps and products!  (cuz we’re just that nice 😉 )

Our blog tour runs in a circle, which means that all of our blogs are linked to the one before and after us.  So as long as you keep  clicking in the same direction – either ‘next’ or ‘back’ – you will travel through all the participating blogs.  If you run into a glitch anywhere, I have a list of all the blog links at the bottom of this page, so you can click directly.

My first 2 projects are created with a few new products – and perfect for your next baby shower!

made with loveI used the Gift Box Punch Board and some Watermelon Wonder cardstock to make this large gift bag.  Using the Gift Bag Punch Board is a bit of a learning curve; I’ve learned that I really have to pay attention to each step, so I don’t forget and leave one step out by mistake!  Otherwise, the bags come together very easily & quickly, and you can decide how you want to close the top.

After doing the punching & scoring, I used the 2 small hearts stamps in the Made with Love stamp set, and stamped them in Watermelon Wonder onto the cardstock of the same colour.  I decided not to use the Board to punch the holes for ribbon handles; instead I used one of the cute clips from the February Paper Pumpkin Kit.  Using the adorable little bunny stamp from the same set, and stamped it onto Whisper White cardstock.  I used the Stampin’ Write Markers so that I could colour the bunny with Tip Top Taupe, and the sentiment in Watermelon Wonder.  To finish it off, I tied a piece of the yummy new 1″ Dotted Lace Trim in Watermelon Wonder around the clip, to hold the bag closed.

Here’s a close up of the bunny stamp (it’s SO cute!) and the ribbon:

I told you it was adorable!! 🙂  I was able to perfectly layer the stamped cardstock with a piece of Cherry on Top DSP by using the new Tags & Labels Framelits; what did I tell you about tons of amazing goodies in the catalogue!!  No more messy, ‘almost’ matching layers for your tags – with 4 different shapes and 3 sizes per shape, you’re covered for your tag needs.

For the matching card, I started with a card base of Watermelon Wonder cardstock, then layered a panel of Pool Party cardstock that had been embossed using the Decorative Dots embossing folder.  I then layered 2 panels of paper from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack (one of them the same pattern as I used behind the bunny tag).  On a piece of Whisper White cardstock I stamped the baby onsie- new in the Made with Love set – in Watermelon Wonder, and then stamped the Made with Love sentiment in Pool Party ink onto the middle.  It’s a little hard to see, so here’s a closer picture:

Isn’t that cute?  The little heart mimics the hearts in the DSP pattern 🙂  Getting back to the ‘awesome factor’ – this new Made with Love stamp set coordinates perfectly with the Something for Baby stamp set from the last catalogue, AND the coordinating Baby’s First Framelits!  That’s right – you can use the onsie and bib framelit with the new set, and you can mix and match all the stamps in both sets.  Now that’s getting your money’s worth!

I stamped the sentiment in Watercolour Wonder onto Whisper White cardstock, and added the little star stamp in Crushed Curry.  I then used the Project Life Corner Rounder punch on the corners, and added them to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

My next card features one of my new favourite sets, which also happens to be the Ronald McDonald House charity stamp set, called Sprinkles of Life.

This stamp set is a fabulous buy, plus Stampin’ Up! donates $3 from each of these stamps set sold to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in the country in which they are sold!  To date, SU! has donated over $1 Million to RMHC – how terrific is that!!

A special stamp set called for a special card, so I decided to do a fancy fold called a ‘Joy Fold’.  It’s basically a smaller card inside a larger card; the larger card is 5 1/2″ x 6 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″  on the 6 1/2″ side.  The smaller card is also Island Indigo cardstock, 5 1/2″ x 4  1/4″, scored at 2 3/4″ on the 5 1/2″ side.

I decorated each of the panels with layers of Whisper White cardstock and Bohemian Designer Series Paper – I love the bold designs and colour combinations in this paper!  For the front centre panel (which is actually the smaller card), I decorated it using the Sprinkles of Life stamp set, using the ice cream cone image.

I stamped the cone in Crumb Cake ink, then coloured it in using a Sponge Dauber and the Crumb Cake ink.  The cone was cut out by hand.  Each of the ice cream scoops were stamped onto Whisper White cardstock, in Delightful Dijon, Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry inks, then added more colour using a Blender Pen and the ink pads.  I then used the Tree Builder Punch, which coordinates with several of the images in this stamp set, and punched out the ice cream.  All were layered onto the front panel  using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The card front is held closed by the little ‘cherry’ (or apple, if you prefer) that you can see on the lower right corner.  I punched out about 6 of the cherries, only stamping the image onto one of them, then layered them together using Tombow Multipurpose Glue, then glued them onto the card front.

This is what the card looks like partially open:

You can also see all the layers of the cherry!

Here is a picture of the inside of the card:

Isn’t that sentiment just the best?!  And of course, I had to add the ‘cherry on top’ 🙂

That’s it for my projects this time; I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing them!  I appreciate you spending your time touring through our blog tour; if you have time to leave a comment, I always love to read what you have to say.
