Oh, Baby! It’s the Creation Station Blog Tour, and it’s all about the babies!
We like to have a theme for each of our blog tours, and this time around it’s all about the babies 🙂 Spring is on the way (honest, it is!), and that means lots of babies about – in Nature, anyway.
You may have noticed the others in the design team using the stamp sets Little Sunshine (Occasions Catalogue) or Simply Wonderful (Sale-a-bration brochure)- but I don’t have either of those sets 🙁 Not to worry – I have other sets to use, and I’m sure you’ll like them anyway (at least, I hope so!).
If you haven’t taken one of our blog tours before, they’re very easy. All of our blogs are linked together like a big circle, so as long as you keep heading in one direction (next, or back) you’ll tour through all of them, then arrive back at your starting place.
If you’ve been traveling forward (via the ‘next’ button) then you’ve arrived here from Jennifer Downey’s blog; she has such great projects, don’t you agree?! If you’re traveled backwards, then you’ve landed here from Jen Arkfeld’s blog – she’s our amazing team leader!
Up first I have for you a card for the new parents:
If you have children, do you remember that day when they first came home? Besides the day of their birth (which, in my mind, was so overwhelming it boggled my mind), bringing them home really was the best.day.ever. It meant that it was real; you were together, a family, and those long months of waiting were over!
This style of card is called a ‘center-step’ card, because of the way the center fold stands out separately from the sides. You can see it better in this side view:
I started with a card base of Tangelo Twist, and used the Sweet Dreams designer series paper for the background panels. I used the Something for Baby stamp set and the Baby’s First Framelits Dies (did you know you can buy these together as a bundle, and SAVE 15%! woot!). I just love the coordinating framelits – life becomes so much easier 🙂 The ink colours I used were Crushed Curry, Tangelo Twist, Smoky Slate, Blushing Bride, Soft Sky and Old Olive. For the images where I wanted multiple colours, I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to colour directly onto the stamp. Again – life, simplified!
The sentiment is from a Sale-a-bration stamp set titled, appropriately enough, Best Day Ever. At a price of FREE – you can’t beat it! 🙂 After stamping the sentiment in Tangelo Twist, I used the Labels Thinlits Dies to cut it out with the Big Shot. Everything was popped up onto the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
My next project is to go along with the card; it’s a little gift tag:
I cut the Tangelo Twist card stock base at 3″ x 6″, scored and folded it in half. I used the same Sweet Dreams DSP as on the card, and cut out the form of the rubber duck in Whisper White card stock, and stamped the word ‘baby’ from the Crazy About You stamp set. The ‘hello’ is die cut again from Tangelo Twist card stock, using the Hello You Thinlits Dies (another bundle you can buy and SAVE 15%!). I used Dimensionals to attach the duck, and lightly touched my glue stick to the back of the ‘hello’ to attach it. While the colours aren’t an exact match, the FREE ribbon from the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack (SAB) in Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral finish off the tag.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my projects; I’d appreciate it if you could leave a comment, and let me know what you think! I always love reading your thoughts 🙂
