Delightful Daisy for Sketch Challenge

Welcome, stamping friend! For this week, I’m using Delightful Daisy for the Sketch Challenge with the Paper Craft Crew. I’ll be honest; when I first saw this sketch challenge, I wasn’t sure how I was going to manage it. Then, after a few minutes perusing my stamp set with coordinating punches and/or dies – Delightful Daisy to the rescue!

Delightful Daisy for Sketch Challenge

I was a little worried about fitting all the elements into my card – but I think I did it!

Delightful Daisy for Sketch Challenge

I just realized that I left off the bow from the top of the tag shape 🙁  Oh well! It still looks okay, right? Call it ‘creative license’! And you get to use your creative license, as well.  As long as you stay with the basic sketch outline, you can change the focal shapes, flip the sketch sideways or upside down – and of course the colours and stamp sets are up to you!

Once I decided to use the Daisy Punch, I turned my attention to colours. Of course, a daisy flower calls for spring colours, so I went to the Delightful Daisy Designer Series PaperGreat news – you can purchase the Daisy Delight Bundle, which includes the Daisy Delight stamp set with the Daisy Punch for only $40 – a 10% savings!! But hurry – because the special Bundle won’t carry over after May 31st!

I pulled the colours from the DSP, deciding on Wisteria Wonder and Calypso Coral. I know; technically, Wisteria Wonder ISN’T on the list of colours – but the watercoloured Night of Navy on the paper looks very much like Wisteria Wonder – so I’m going with it! 🙂

First, assemble the pieces needed for this card. Stamp 3 daisy flowers from the Daisy Delight stamp set, onto Whisper White cardstock in Wisteria Wonder ink. Use a Sponge Dauber to add Wisteria Wonder ink to the middle of the flowers. Stamp the middle of each flower first with So Saffron, then the texture in Crushed Curry ink. Next, punch out the 3 flowers, using the Daisy Punch. Layer each flower, slightly offsetting the petals, with a Stampin’ Dimensional between each layer. I used a retired small flower punch to punch 2 flowers from the Delightful Daisy DSP; you can use any small flower punch or die set that you happen to have. Layer the 2 small flowers as you did with the daisies, then place a  Glitter Enamel Dot in the middle of the flower.

There are several different panels for this card front. First, cut a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of Wisteria Wonder cardstock. Then, layer it with a 3 3/4″ x 5″ panel of Whisper White cardstock. Cover the bottom portion with a 3 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ panel of Delightful Daisy DSP, using the Calypso Coral colour panel. Attach these to a card base of Calypso Coral cardstock.

Next, cut a banner shape 1 1/2″ x 4″ from the floral pattern of Delightful Daisy DSP. Create the banner tails with the Banner Triple Punch, then attach it with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. The last piece to create is the tag shape, which is easy to do by cutting the top corners off of a  2 1/2″ x 3 1/4″ piece of Wisteria Wonder cardstock. This piece is embossed with the Big Shot and the new Basket Weave Dynamic Texture Impressions Embossing Folder.  This embossing folder is part of the exclusive Sale-A-BrationBlossoming Basket Bundle‘,that you can earn for free with a qualifying purchase.

After attaching this last piece with Dimensionals, now attach the flowers, also with Dimensionals. The last thing to do is stamp the sentiment, from the Blossoming Basket stamp set, in Calypso Coral ink onto Whisper White cardstock. Use your Paper Snips to create the banner tails on each end, then attach it to the bottom of the basket weave piece.

To finish off the front, add some Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the front. Stamp some of the small daisy flowers from the Delightful Daisy stamp set onto the inside panel of Whisper White cardstock.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :)
