First Sketch Challenge for the New Year!

Wow – it’s the Paper Craft Crew first sketch challenge of the New Year! I hope you had fun ringing in 2019, and are now ready to change your party hat for your creative hat.  It’s a fun sketch we have for you. I hope you’ll start the new year off right, and join us!

First Sketch Challenge for the New Year!

If you’re new to challenges, it’s super easy to join! Create your own card or project, using the sketch as your starting point. You can change the shapes on the sketch; you can even flip it sideways or upside, to suit your card. Just keep the ‘basics’ the same, so that it’s recognizable as the sketch. For my card, I kept the basics the same, but left out the label type shape, as it didn’t work with my stamp set.

There are so many different stamps in the August My Monthly Hero Kit from Hero Arts, that I’m still working on using them all at least once! I love this sentiment – it’s so me! Seriously – I don’t do much, if anything, until I’ve had at least 1 cup of coffee in the morning.

Doesn’t this scene just make you feel relaxed? Imagine yourself comfy, sitting down, enjoying your favourite beverage! Works for me 🙂

First, you need to make your cup of coffee. On a piece of white cardstock, stamp the cup image in SU! Bermuda Bay ink, and the steam in Crumb Cake ink. Use your Stampin’ Blends Markers in the Bermuda Bay Combo to colour your coffee cup & saucer. Use the Light Crumb Cake Blends marker to colour the coffee in the cup.

Stamp the sentiment in SU! Soft Suede ink onto 2 strips of white cardstock.

Use the Big Shot with the SU! Stitched Shapes Framelits to die cut a circle from the Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid 6″ x 6″ Chill paper pack. Next, use the Layering Circles Framelits to die cut a scalloped circle from SU! Crushed Curry cardstock. Attach the 2 circles together with Foam Tape or squares, or Stampin’ Dimensionals. Now attach these to a panel of SU! Bermuda Bay cardstock with Tombow Multi glue.

Attach the steam above the cup with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the 2 piece sentiment with more Dimensionals. Next, attach the front panel to a cardstock base of Crushed Curry.

Finish off the card front with some pretty Clear Droplets from Pretty Pink Posh.

I think this card could be used for lots of occasions – it’s a nice, clean & simple design!

I do hope you’ll join us for this first challenge of the year. For more inspiration, check out what the rest of our talented Design Team have created, over on the Paper Craft Crew page. That’s also where  you’ll find the link, to add your own project.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :)
