Freshly Made Sketches #400

Wow! It’s a big celebration over at Freshly Made Sketches – it’s their 400th!!  That’s a huge milestone for anything, but for a weekly challenge that’s really amazing. They’re have a big celebration with of course their 400th sketch, but also prizes from amazing sponsors. The crafting world is a tight one; everyone supports everyone else, even if the rest of the world sees them as ‘competing’ companies. Not so! We all build each other up, and celebrate each other’s successes.

FRESHLY MADE SKETCHES #400 SKETCH

Here’s the sketch #400 to work from.

Of course their design team came up with some amazing cards to inspire! Click the sketch above, to go check it out.

WELL, HELLO!

For my project, I decided to incorporate one of the alcohol & pearl ink panels that I shared at the beginning of the week. They were created on Yupo, with plastic wrap use to create the effect. If you missed that post, you can read it HERE.  I thought it made the perfect background for this sketch.

Freshly Made Sketches #400

I think that creating the open frame and placing the vellum dragonfly still allows that fun background to shine!

CARD DETAILS

Create a card base of bright green cardstock. Attach a purple cardstock  panel to the front, with liquid glue or tape. Trim down your alcohol ink panel to fit, and attach it to the front. The background panel is on Yupo paper, with alcohol pearl inks, alcohol inks, silver mixative and alcohol blending solution. The effect is created with plastic wrap – please click the link above to read the post for all of the details.

Die cut an open frame from silver cardstock, and then twice more from purple cardstock. Layer the 3 panels together with tape or liquid glue, with the silver frame on top. Attach the frame to the middle of the front panel, using foam tape for dimension.

Die cut the dragonfly from Vellum cardstock, and attach it across the frame with glue or glue dots. Stamp the sentiment from the Well, Hello stamp set from My Favorite Things (MFT) in Versamark ink onto a strip of the same bright green cardstock. Cover it with WOW Opaque Bright White SuperFine embossing powder, and heat set.  Attach it across the bottom of the frame, tucking the dragonfly tail in behind it.

This photo above is my favourite of this card – the angle shows off the silver mixative in the panel, and the cool ‘paving stone’ effect from the plastic wrap.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :)
