Freshly Made Sketches

Hello again, stamping friends!

I’ve joined a new challenge today – this one is by Freshly Made Sketches!  This is a real challenge for me; the ‘fresh’ part of their name refers to the fact that the cards/projects made are to be kept ‘clean’.  That means no torn edging, ‘fussy’ embellishments, clean lines, and lots of ‘white space’ and clean edges.

Sounds easy, right?  Sure – until you realize that it means *not* using every stamp in a set on just the one card!  Or every sequin in a container! LOL  Okay, I don’t think I’m that bad; it just seems more drastic when you’re focused on leaving white space.

Here is the sketch for this FMS174 challenge :

FMS Final 174-001

And here is my interpretation of the sketch:

FMS174

Since the sketch said that the focal point could be ‘any shape’, I decided to pull out one of my favourite bundles from the Annual Catalogue – Flower Patch stamp set and Flower Fair Framelits Dies!  I love how the large flower looks, paired with the Best Year Ever DSP  and the matching Best Year Ever Accessory Pack ribbons (both FREE during Sale-a-bration!).  The card base is the beautiful Soft Sky, and the flower was stamped twice in Calypso Coral (the 2nd flower was hand cut & popped up in the centre of the full flower).  I used Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive classic inks for the leaves – and can I say how much I love having the Framelits to cut these out?!!  I stamped the sentiment in Calypso Coral ink onto Whisper White card stock, and punched it out using my Large Oval Punch.  Scattering a few Basic Rhinestone Jewels around, and I was done!  I even managed to leave some blank ‘white’ space! 🙂

I hope that you like this clean card; I’m actually quite pleased with how it turned out, if I do say so myself! 😉  I hope you’ll head on over to the Freshly Made Sketches page, and check out not just the samples made by the design team, but also the wonderful cards submitted for this challenge (boy, there’s a lot of awesome competition)!
