GRACEFUL GLASS VELLUM
Have you seen the new Graceful Glass Vellum yet? It looks striking enough in black & white in the catalogue – but have you seen it coloured? Oh my gosh – check out Pinterest for some eye-popping colouring!
This picture from the online store just doesn’t do it any justice! You can see a bit more detail on page 188 of the Annual catalogue. Page 165, has a beautiful group of coloured samples; I’ve attached it below for you to see.
I love Iris flowers, and I love purple, so…this one was a given that I’d do first! The great thing about this vellum is that it’s a heavy weight, so it doesn’t buckle under your colouring (except if you’re watercolouring -then it may warp a bit). The image outlines are in a gloss black, which is slightly raised, like it’s been embossed. This also helps you stay ‘within the lines’, and your image doesn’t get blurred.
This particular image is part of 4 on 1 sheet. Each panel can be cut up and used separately, which is what I did. (spoiler alert – more to come!). I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to colour, and you can see they went on really well.
Use the Gorgeous Grape Marker for the darker parts of your flower, and Highland Heather Marker for the lighter areas. For the leaves, use Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz Markers. Use the Daffodil Delight Marker for the lines at the top, bottom and edges.
To fit my card front panel, I did have to trim off the top & bottom edges of this panel.
Use the Rooted in Nature stamp set for the sentiment. Stamp in Gorgeous Grape ink onto Whisper White cardstock. Die cut the sentiment with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits. Cut a slightly larger square (2 1/2″ square) from Gorgeous Grape cardstock to layer behind the sentiment.
LAYERING IT TOGETHER
Create a tall, narrow card by cutting your 8 1/2″ x 11″ Gorgeous Grape cardstock at 4 1/4″. Score at 5 1/2″, and fold on the score line. Add a panel of Daffodil Delight cardstock with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Next, add a panel of Whisper White cardstock, with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Attach your vellum panel with a small amount of liquid glue along the top & bottom of the panel, and a little dab in the middle of each side. The glue will dry clear.
Layer your sentiment squares together with Dimensionals, then glue it onto the card front with liquid glue.
I was thinking of adding some type of embellishment, but I really wanted the vellum panel to be the star of this card. Although it came together quickly – you don’t have to tell everyone that! It looks like a beautiful piece of stained glass art.
