HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BEST FRIEND!
Today, July 9th, is the birthday of my best friend, Susan L.! I think it’s worth mentioning that she & I have been friends since high school – which was some time ago (no, I won’t give away her age! and if I give away my age, that gives away hers – she’s 1 year older than me – something I delight in pointing out! LOL). Seriously though, we’ve been through everything together, and I’m very fortunate to have such a kind, giving and wonderful friend!
Susan, I know you’re reading this (because you’re such a good friend, that you follow my blog); I don’t know how you’ve put up with me all these years, but I sure am glad you have! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BEST FRIEND!
Now, because I know that she’s reading this, I won’t be showing you Susan’s birthday card I made for her! We did go out to celebrate, to dinner & a movie on the weekend, but I haven’t given Susan her card and gift yet. So instead, I’ll share a different birthday card.
BROADWAY BIRTHDAY FUN FOLD
I created an exclusive fun fold tutorial just for my newsletter subscribers, so I won’t be sharing the ‘how to’ details in this post. If you do want the tutorial, just fill out your email info in the top right corner of the sidebar – and you’ll get direct access to the tutorial!
This card is created using the Broadway Birthday stamp set and coordinating Broadway Lights Framelits. As with any new Bundle, you can get it at a 10% savings! I highly recommend it, because you know you’re going to want both.
There’s a whole suite of products that coordinate with the Bundle; it’s called the Broadway Bound Suite, on pages 68-69 of the Annual catalogue.
As well as the Broadway Birthday Bundle – which is the stamp set & framelits – I used the Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper, and the Lemon Lime Twist cardstock from the Broadway Bound Cardstock Pack.
I also used Gold Foil paper, and Gold Embossing Powder. I love the fun dots that you can stamp inside the words ‘wish’ and ‘hooray’ from the stamp set, so it looks like marquee lights! I used the Gold Embossing Powder to emphasize these dots, and the harlequin shaped stars.
FUN FOLD OPENING
I like this unique opening to the card – it opens in 2 parts. First, you open the front ‘flap’. Unlike a belly band, this one is attached to the base of the card. I added a sentiment to the back of it.
The 2nd opening is when you lift the large front flap up, and reveal the inside sentiment of the card. For the ‘wish’, I stamped the word in Lemon Lime Twist ink, and then stamped the dots inside in Tranquil Tide ink.
I stamped the cute little birthday hats in Lovely Lipstick ink, to tie in the birthday hats on the DSP.
