HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Welcome to the first day of 2019! I hope that this year proves to be a good one for all; with lots of opportunities for creativity and sharing. Of course, a lotto win, end to world hunger, and achieving world peace would be great too – but hey, let’s start small, and work on the rest, right? (never stop working on the rest!). Sincerely though, I’d like to wish you a very Happy New Year, and thank you for being here, reading my blog post, and supporting my creative endeavours. This past weekend I accepted a friend request on Facebook; this lovely lady told me after we connected that she had been following my blog for years!! OH. MY. GOSH. I was so humbled and thrilled at the same time – you’ve no idea what that meant to me! You really made my weekend, Diane L.! 🙂
Whatever the year has in store for us, I think it’s important to celebrate the fact that we made it here! Getting through the holidays can be a stressful time, even for people with seemingly ‘perfect’ lives. It can also cause medical and emotional distress, so we all need to give each other a hug – virtual or otherwise -before we carry on with the year. Today’s card is all about celebrating!
Startling loud noise aside, fireworks can make a celebration fun! (apologies to those who don’t care for them).
CREATE YOUR BACKGROUND
To create the background for this card, pull out your Life Changing Blender Brushes or other favourite blending tool. Select 3-4 colours in the same family – I chose my favourite blues. Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers Distress ink, and SU! Blueberry Bushel are my choices. Start with the lightest colour (Tumbled Glass) at the bottom of the white cardstock panel, and blend your colours upwards. After laying down the colours, go back and gently blend over the joining areas, to smooth them out.
SET OFF THE FIREWORKS
Place your panel into your MISTI or Stamparatus. Lay your images from The Ton Pyrotechnics stamp set where you want them on your panel, and pick them up with the platform. Stamp the images in Versamark ink, repeating the inking up if you feel you need to for complete coverage.
Cover the images with Silver Embossing Powder, and set with a Heat Tool. Next, add gold flecks to the panel with your Wink of Stella Gold pen. Attach your panel to a cardstock base of Blueberry Bushel, with Foam Tape or Squares, or Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Use your Big Shot and Magnetic Platform for die cutting. I used the retired SU! Large Number Dies for the year, and the SU! Celebrate You Thinlits for the word. Die cut them from Gold Foil paper; the numbers I used are actually from left over from the card I shared yesterday! Use Foam Tape or Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the die cuts to your front panel.
Add a panel of white cardstock to the inside of your card, and add a sentiment. I chose one from the Penny Black Sentiment Collection stamp set – it has a great range of sayings to choose from. Use Blueberry Bushel ink for stamping.
I think that this card would also make a great birthday card! Either for someone who has a January 1st birthday, or simply leave off the year on the front of the card.
