HIGHLAND HEATHER ACCENTED BLOSSOMS
Today I’m revisiting a set I haven’t used since June – called Accented Blossoms. I’m pairing it with the new Highland Heather colour, which is a new favourite! This is also my first time using the Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper. Have you taken advantage of the Buy 3, Get 1 Free Designer Paper Sale? Better be quick – it ends July 30th! Now is the perfect time to get these gorgeous new papers, that you can use throughout the year.
I keep wanting to call this set Accented Blooms – there must have been a stamp set called that in the recent past! So if I goof up, and don’t catch it – it’s just me!
First, stamp the image in Memento Black ink onto a Whisper White cardstock panel. Use the Combo packs of Stampin’ Blends to colour the flowers and leaves. I used Highland Heather, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive. I love how the Combo pack of Light & Dark of each marker allows you to create shading and depth. It’s definitely worth getting the Combo packs of each colour.
Here’s a close up of the colours, in the picture below.
After colouring the flowers, stamp the sentiment, from the Colorful Seasons stamp set, in Highland Heather ink. The nice thing about this stamp is that the sentiment area is already included in the image! No wondering where you’re going to fit the sentiment in!
Next step is to create the layers. Cut a panel of Highland Heather cardstock, and layer it behind the stamped panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Next, cut 2 cardstock banners; 1 from Balmy Blue and 1 in Fresh Fig. Use the Banner Triple Punch to create the tails on each end of each piece. Attach the two together, with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Create your card base of Highland Heather cardstock. Attach a panel of Tranquil Textures DSP onto the front, with Dimensionals. I really like this cute dots and circles pattern – and it worked great with the colours of Blends I had used. Use Dimensionals to attach the banners horizontally across the middle of the card front. Now you can finish off the front by attaching the stamped panel & background panel to the front, with more Dimensionals.
Colouring with the Blends is really relaxing for me; it reminds me of being a kid with a colouring book. Except that I’m a bit better now with staying inside the lines (a bit!).
