Jar of Love for Theme Challenge

Today I’m sharing a card using a set I haven’t used in a while – the Jar of Love for a Theme Challenge! This week’s Paper Craft Crew challenge is a ‘Rustic Floral’ challenge, and the photo used reminded me of the Jar of Love stamp set.

Here the challenge photo for PCC288 – Rustic Floral.

Doesn’t that remind you of the Jar of Love stamp set? The good news is that this stamp set, along with it’s coordinating Everyday Jars Thinlits, is carrying over to the new Annual catalogue!

JAR OF LOVE FOR THEME CHALLENGE

Jar of Love for Theme Challenge

This card reminds me of what Spring will feel like, eventually! Cut flowers from the garden, bringing in their beautiful scent indoors. Right now, we’re living through the ‘April showers’ portion!

DETAILS

Stamp your flowers and green stems onto separate Whisper White cardstock.  For my small flowers, I used a combination of Calypso Coral and Peekaboo Peach ink; the larger flowers are a combination of Powder Pink and Sweet Sugarplum. Remember that it’s Retirement time, so Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum are both retiring! Be sure to get them quickly, before they sell out!

Stamp the outline of the jar in Memento black ink onto Whisper White, and add the water image in Marina Mist ink (also retiring). Stamp the jar twice, so that  you can cut the top lip of the jar twice, for layering. Use the Everyday Jars Thinlits with the Big Shot to die cut the flowers, stems and jar.

After die cutting, lay your jar onto your 3 3/4″ x 5″ panel of Crumb Cake cardstock, and stamp a couple of the larger leafy stems directly onto the jar and Crumb Cake panel. Next, attach a 2″ x 3 3/4″ panel of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (carrying over – yay!) onto the bottom of the panel with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Cut a Lace Doily in half, and glue it onto the Wood Textures DSP. Next, attach your jar on top of the doily, with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Now you’re ready to layer your flowers and stems with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

When you’re finished adding your flowers, attach this panel to a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel of Old Olive cardstock. Then attach it to your card base of Chocolate Chip cardstock. (I used this colour because it’s retiring, and I have a lot to use up!).  Finish off your card front by adding a few sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment, and add a multi-loop bow in Linen Thread under the layered lip of the jar.

I love the different depths you can achieve by layering the the flowers, stems, jar and cardstocks.  Since this card can be for so many occasions, I left the front without a sentiment.  I didn’t get a good picture of the inside, but I did add a panel of Whisper White cardstock, and a sentiment from the Petal Palette stamp set.

JOIN IN THE FUN!

I’d be thrilled if you would join this week’s challenge with us! Go to the Paper Craft Crew challenge page first, to check out the fabulous projects from the rest of the Design Team. Then, after you’ve finished your card, grab the link from there, and add  your card. I can’t wait to see what you create for this theme!

ORDER YOUR SUPPLIES

Be sure to order supplies early, especially if you’re looking at some of the Retiring Products! The Retiring Products are all available while supplies last, until May 31st. After that, once they’re gone, that’s it – unless there’s some left that may or may not show up on the Clearance Rack, sometime in the future. That’s too unpredictable, so please – don’t wait! To shop in my online store, click on the product images below, or my signature. If  you don’t already have a Canadian demonstrator, I’m happy to be there for you!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project; whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :) If you're in Canada, you can Join My Team as a SU! demonstrator. If you're in the Great Vancouver area, you're welcome to join my classes - we always have fun!

  1. This is a beautiful card, Deborah. I love how you used the doily on the table and the flowers are beautiful. Do you think we will ever actually have flowers growing? We had an ice storm on Sunday so I am not so sure!

    1. Thanks, Susan! I’m glad you got the table/doily idea I was going for 🙂 Let’s hope Spring arrives soon – we’re all feeling like it’s the 198th day of winter!

    1. I guess we’ll have to settle for stamped flowers, until the real ones have a chance to bloom, right Buffy?! Let’s hope it’s soon! Thanks for your kind comment on my card – glad you liked it 🙂

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
