Let It Snow Holiday Card

I’m in the holiday card making mood, now! I just needed to get a kick start, which I got from the Scrap ‘N Stamp Pop Up shop a couple of weekends ago. Picking up some new holiday stamps – and then needing to share them! – got me going. I’m back today with a Let It Snow holiday card in more frosty blue.

LET IT SNOW

I really do love it when it snows! We don’t get a lot of it usually here in Vancouver. It’s quite a moderate climate, and a snowy winter is the exception.

Let It Snow Holiday Card

This card is a result of digging through my ‘stash’ of old dies and embossing folders, combined with new inks and paper.

CARD DETAILS

I found this die in an envelope in my stash; no manufacturer or company name, so I can’t share that info with you. I don’t even remember  using it before! It comes with 3 oval nesting dies, and the ‘let it snow’ sentiment die. First, die cut the largest oval and sentiment from silver foil paper. Next, die cut the snowflake using that die & the outline oval, from glimmer paper.

Create a card base of light blue cardstock. Next, run a panel of white cardstock through your machine with a dots embossing folder. With a blending brush, lightly add Broken China Distress Oxide ink across the top, so that most of the ink stays on the raised dots. Attach this panel to the card base.  Now, cut another panel of the light blue cardstock, and blend on the Broken China ink around the edges. Finally, layer the die cut ovals, using foam dots or tape for the snowflakes.

As is, this card is quick & easy to make. If you want to ‘step it up’ a bit more, you could add some small snowflakes or glitter on the blended panel. Or, get creative and make it a shaker card!

Thanks for spending some time with me today! I hope that you’re having fun creating your own holiday cards, if that’s something you do. I know that I always love to receive them, so I always send them.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :)

  1. What a gorgeous card, Deborah! I love the sparkle; that’s what winter is all about. We don’t get a lot of snow either. I’m so ready for some snow. But after the first snow or two, I’m done and ready for spring!

    1. So glad that you like my sparkly snowflake card, Buffy! I’m with you – snow is especially pretty when you don’t have to drive in it. Otherwise – I love how it sparkles when the sun shines on it 🙂

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
