LOSING MY MARBLES

LOSING MY MARBLES

Okay, maybe I’m not completely losing my marbles – but some days it feels like it! 🙂 But at least I can laugh at myself while it’s happening. I’m sure I’m not the only one who gets distracted by funny posts on the internet, not to mention all those cute animal videos! It was ages ago that I saw this funny meme with Grumpy Cat (a.k.a. Tardar Sauce).

Losing My Marbles

I’m easily amused (most of the time) so I had a good laugh at this! So good that I kept a copy of it, obviously!

So yesterday, when I had out my Bokeh Dots stamp set and was using the star/fireworks image stamp (you can see that post HERE), the dots reminded me of marbles, which reminded me of Grumpy Cat!

BOKEH MARBLES

You’ve probably already noticed that, as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I rarely, if ever, use non-Stampin’ Up! products. This is one of those RARE occasions when I just had to! Because as my thought marbles were rolling around (a few probably slipping out of the bag) I remembered this funny stamp set that I ordered from a non-SU! source. All  because of this saying!

Losing My Marbles

The stars just aligned, don’t you agree?! I mean, the marbles, Grumpy Cat, the saying, bokeh dots/marbles…. I couldn’t resist!

MULTI COLOURED BOKEH DOTS

I may have slipped a little off the SU! wagon – but I did use the Bokeh Dots stamp set, and can tell  you how to get the multi coloured effect with this stamp! It’s very easy to do. First, take out your Granny Apple Green and Grapefruit Grove ink pads. Next, take out 1 Sponge Dauber per colour. Because I love sponging colours, I have 1 Sponge Dauber per colour that I use. Really, they’re not that expensive, and it beats trying to clean them in between!

With your Bokeh Dots stamp on your clear block, facing up, pick up ink with the Grapefruit Grove dauber, and randomly add the colour to the stamp. Repeat with the Granny Apple Green. Remember that this is one of the new DistINKtive style stamps, so do not over ink the image. Too much ink will obliterate the subtle effect that allows the stamp to pick up/lay day the ink at different gradations, creating the effect.

After you’ve daubed on the inks to your satisfaction (I find that looking at the stamp from an angle allows you to see where the ink has been applied), stamp firmly in the middle of your Whisper White cardstock panel.

Next, stamp the sentiment in Gorgeous Grape ink on top of the middle of the dots image.

ADD MORE MARBLES (er, dots)

To give the allusion (and illusion) of marbles slipping out of the bag, I picked up ink with the Grapefruit Grove and Granny Apple Green daubers, and stamped a few marbles/dots randomly about the sentiment. I also added some Gorgeous Grape marbles, with another Sponge Dauber.

Once your happy with your marbles, attach the stamped panel on an angle, onto a panel of Grapefruit Grove cardstock.  I didn’t have any Gorgeous Grape ribbon or trim, so I used my Sponge Dauber to colour a length of Whisper White Baker’s Twine! I wrapped it twice around the panels, then attached it in place on the back, with Tear & Tape.

Finally, I added my front panels to a Granny Apple Green cardstock base.

GET SILLY INSIDE

Since the outside sentiment is kinda goofy,  I kept it up for the inside sentiment using the same non-SU! set.

Losing My Marbles

After adding my Whisper White panel inside, I stamped the sentiment in Gorgeous Grape ink, and again added a few dauber marbles. I like to carry over something from the card front the inside, for continuity.

GRAB YOUR MARBLES & HAVE FUN!

Or your Bokeh Dots! Whatever you do – have fun stamping! That’s why we do it, right? Because we have fun; it brings joy to us and those who receive our cards. Whether the cards are goofy like this one, or a tranquil sympathy card, or a cheerful thank you card – it’s why we make them.

So thanks for letting me play outside my usual sandbox today 🙂 Let me know what you think of this card -funny, or just silly? And if you do place and order with me – I thank  you very much! And if I brought a smile to your face -that made my day.

Thank you. I have a bunch of these sets because I love funny, sarcastic humour. I’m just not always sure how to use them. So this helps.

What a fun card, Deborah! And I love all the marbles – stamped and “daubed.” I always pick a few funny stamps when I go to the Craft Expo.
