MONOCHROMATIC CHRISTMAS CARD
Hello again, stamping friend! Welcome to Monday; have you taken part in the Online Extravaganza yet? If not, be sure to check out my ONLINE STORE, and get shopping! Today is Day 2 of the Stamps & Kits sale. After your shopping is done (or before, whichever you prefer) have a look at today’s monochromatic Christmas card that I have for you. Plus, there’s minimal layers on this card, so it’s great for mailing.
WATERFRONT & HIGH TIDE
I combined the beautiful scene features from the Waterfront and High Tide stamp sets for this card. The only colours I used are Balmy Blue and Pool Party.
I like how the blues can be both calming, and give a frosty feeling, at the same time. And while there’s no layering, embossing or paper piecing on the front, it has a lot of dimension. That’s thanks to using the masking technique.
CARD FRONT DETAILS
First, create a mask by die cutting an oval using the Big Shot, and the Layering Ovals Framelits. Use either some washi tape or painter’s tape to hold the mask in place over your panel of Whisper White cardstock. Stamp the mountains image from the Waterfront stamp set in Balmy Blue ink twice at full strength, and once after stamping off, as shown above. The stamped off image is in the background, to give depth. With the mask still in place, use a Sponge or Sponge Dauber and Pool Party ink, to add colour around the edges.
Remove the mask, and stamp the trees from the Waterfront set in Balmy Blue ink, to the bottom left of the focal image. The sentiment is from the retired Greetings of the Season stamp set; stamp in Balmy Blue ink in the bottom right corner.
Finally, stamp the birds from the High Tide stamp set above the mountains, again in Balmy Blue ink.
FINISH IT UP WITH A LAYER
Add just one layer of Basic Black cardstock behind your image panel. Next, attach the panels onto a card base of Balmy Blue cardstock, with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Be sure to add a panel of Whisper White cardstock to the inside of your card, and stamp a sentiment. I did do that with mine, but I didn’t take a picture of it this time.
