Hello Stampin' Friends!
Here it is – what you've been waiting for (if you didn't already get one of your own!)- an up close look at just what you get in Stampin' Up!'s new subscription kit – Paper Pumpkin!
So, I want to share the excitement with you, step by step!
Here's what I saw when I opened the box:
And when I opened up that gorgeous Pool Party coloured tissue paper:
Here's all the goodies, laid out for you to see
You can see everything you get – a Basic Grey ink spot, DSP in Daffodil Yellow, the card bases are Basic Grey on the outside and white on the inside (so you don't need any special pen for writing your message!), the sheet of die-cut stickers, the Tempting Turquoise buttons, envelopes, the Clear Block size 'D', and the 2 clear mount stamps, and Instructions for putting the 4 cards together! The only thing you have to supply is your own adhesive, and imagination!
Here's a picture of one of the cards-which already come pre-scored, you just have to fold them-so you can see that the outside is grey, and the inside is white. (This is not 'the usual' way you'd get cardstock from SU!, but special for these kits).
The first thing I did was to creat the first card, following the instructions given and using the picture as a guide. The second card I made, I decided to change it up a bit, and invited my creativity to play along!
You can see that I kept the card base and DSP the same, just turned it sideways. When you remove the 'medallion' shape, it leaves a great negative image; all it took was a little patient cutting with my SU! paper snips, and I was able to use the negative of the medallion, as well as the 'banner' shape. Pretty cool, right?! So I was able to make a completely different looking card, using nothing but the supplies that came in the Paper Pumpkin kit. (except for adhesive). And that 'splotch' stamp – love it!! 🙂
Here's the next 2 cards I made:
Again, with the card on the right I used only the supplies from the kit; the negative shape from the 'bumps', and the banner (I actually took 1 banner, and cut it in 1/2, cutting banner ends into the 2nd one with my paper snips), and adhered the medallion shape on top. I stamped with both stamps, using the Basic Grey ink spot.
With the card on the left, I used both the positive and negative banner shapes, the negative of the medallion – cut into several different sizes. I used my own Lucky Limeade stamp pad to stamp the sentiment; masking off the words to allow the 'hey there' to fit inside the banner, and stamped 'friend' underneath it, and the 'splotches'. I used just a scrap of Tempting Turquoise DSP and my butterfly punch to add the butterfly onto the banner, to carry over the colour.
You know what? I had a lot of fun doing this – and I have supplies left over! That's right – I used the 4 card bases and DSP panels, but I still have some of the stickers and buttons left, and of course the stamps and Basic Grey Stampin' Spot to use on any other project I want! How great is that?!
I have to admit, I was left wanting 'more', but that's probably because I'm used to designing, measuring, cutting and selecting all the inks, colours and embellishments myself. But, this was a quick and easy way to have 4 cards made, with little fuss! (Trust me – it usually takes me a lot longer than 30 minutes to make 4 cards from scratch, if you include the design time!)
So if you're new to stamping or cardmaking, or just want to have something that you can make quickly without a fuss, I really encourage you to try the Paper Pumpkin! This kit that I've shared with you is the 'Welcome' kit, which is the 1st kit you will receive, no matter when you sign up. After that, each monthly kit (shipped approximately the 15th of each month) will be a surprise; nope, not even us demo's know what will be in next month's Paper Pumpkin!
