New Releases and a Work in Progress

Happy Friday, my friend! Is it just me, or does this month feel extra long? Is it January 75th, yet? I think it’s the grayness of the month, that makes it seem long. Anyway, I’ve got news of new releases, and a  colourful work in progress to share with you today. Hopefully that will brighten your day, if it needs brightening.

These sets have the main characters either fluttering, or twisting – and they’re easy to create! Watch the video below for  how easy the Flutter Sheep comes together.

Just how cute is that?! The most difficult part, I think, will be deciding which kit to order! The Twist kits are just as easy to create, and there’s a video to follow for those, too. To see all of the Flutter & Twist kits, as well as other sale products, CLICK HERE. I know you’ll have fun choosing which ones to order!

If Valentine’s is specifically what you’re looking for, look no further than RIGHT HERE. There are some adorable new ‘Cubbies’ set with a rabbit who’s apron is fillable! Be sure to check it out.

WORK IN PROGRESS

So now, I thought I’d share a new alcohol ink project I’m working on. This is an online single class  through the Academy of Alcohol Ink. It’s called Cat’s Eye, for the obvious reason.  These single classes are called ‘paint along’, because you can literally paint along with the video, or watch and then paint at your own pace. I do a combination; I watch the videos first, then get started. I’ll then go back a different points when I feel lost or stuck.  As well as the videos, there is a reference photo to work from. It’s easiest to trace the photo onto your substrate, and then start working.  You also get a list of recommended supplies & colours that the instructor has used, but of course you can also choose your own. Being a beginner, I try to stay as close to the recommendations as possible.

Here’s a picture of the reference photo (top) and my work in progress below it.

I’m sure that you can see as well as I can the areas that need more work! The reflection at the top of the eye needs to be more pronounced, and the colours intensified. The cat’s fur is also a bit of a mess – on my piece, of course! The ‘extra’ lines you see in the reference photo are my tracing lines.

To trace the reference photo, I place it over my panel of Yupo, with a piece of graphite paper in between. Next, I trace as much detail as I can from the photo. After tracing, I remove the graphite paper, and keep the reference photo in front of my, while adding the colours. In this image, most of the colours are added  using Copic markers, as well as some Ranger alcohol ink. I also use a white gel pen, a small brush, alcohol blending solution and 99% isopropyl alcohol.

ARE YOU INSPIRED?

I hope that these fun new releases, and maybe even my work in progress, have inspired you to try something new! For the new releases, I’ve used affiliate links at no cost to you. For the alcohol ink work in progress, affiliate links are provided below.  Thanks for spending some time with me today! Have a good one, and a great weekend, too.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :)
