News from the Crafting World

Happy Wednesday, my friend! Anyone else out there having trouble keeping track of what day it is?  I spent all of Monday being certain that it was Tuesday.  I checked the calendar twice before writing this  post! While we’re all adjusting to our ‘new normal’ with the current Covid-19 pandemic, there’s been some sad news in the crafting world. In case you’re not on email lists, I thought I’d share them with you here.

I just received (on Tuesday) this email from Hero Arts, in regards to being forced to close temporarily. This is their message:

In order to fight the growing spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the San Francisco Bay Area has mandated the immediate closure of all non-essential businesses, including Hero Arts. This means all of our employees will be sent home and we will not return until April 7 (as of now). We are sad that we won’t be able to provide you, our most prized customers and friends with stamping supplies, but we understand this is a necessary step for the good of the community.

We will still be online and available as follows:
• Our website (both stampers and retailers) will continue to take orders, although we will not start shipping again until April 7 at the earliest.
• We will continue to offer blogs, social media, card ideas, and projects online to help us and stampers the world over pass the time at home.
• We will continue to monitor our phones and email as often as possible, although our response times will be slower than usual, and thus we apologize in advance for any delays.

We are sending out our most loving and heartfelt thoughts to you and your family. Stay safe and stay healthy.

It’s just a little ‘blip’ in the way of doing things – but Hero Arts will be back, as soon as they’re allowed to reopen! You can still support Hero Arts by shopping online and placing your order, Just think of how exciting it will be in about a month, when you get what will feel like a ‘surprise’ package!

This is very sad news, indeed! Maple Syrup Designs, situated on the east coast of Canada, has announced that once their stock on  hand is depleted, they will be closing their doors. This is their announcement.

UPDATE – We are sad to inform you that once our stock sells through we will be closing. It has just proven too hard and costly to stay afloat like many small businesses. Thank you all who have supported our small business. Do not worry we have deep stocks on some items so you will still see our website around for awhile.

PLEASE, please help them during this winding down period by placing your order! Maple Syrup is a fabulous store for a lot of those brands that are hard to find, in Canada. A great resource for Catherine Pooler, The Ton, Gerda Steiner Designs, LDRS Creative and more. CLICK HERE to check out everything they have on offer.

On a good news side, Altenew has just released their new Mini Delight Kit! It’s a super cute, versatile stamp and die set, called Strength. Have a look.

Well, you’ve been having such a great time shopping online! Such a good time in fact, that Concord & 9th is having to end their Blowout Sale early – on March 20th, in fact! So – you’ve only got a few more days to grab what you want at incredible discounts.  And be aware – due to the huge volume of orders, and ‘social distancing’ (meaning they can’t increase staff on the floor), they are about 5-7 days behind in shipping.   But hey – a good deal is always worth waiting for, am I right? CLICK HERE to start filling your cart!

With the Covid19 situation being so constantly changing, the only thing certain right now is that things are uncertain. So, shop & support your favourite crafting stores, while you can. But remember – that doesn’t include going panic shopping at your grocery or pharmacy! Supply chains are open, goods are still being shipped & received around the world.  Only ‘non essential’ stores & services are reducing their hours, or closing their doors. So for those who do work in those essential services – thank you!! You are appreciated more than you know – and I’m sure you’re tired of hearing cranky people complaining.  So makers – how about we do what we do best – create some thank you cards or notes to drop off to your cashier, your doctor or nurse, the person behind the gas pumps.  My husband and oldest son both work in transport container industry – keeping those refrigerated containers going on the ships – and realized that they are, in fact, part of the ‘essential services’.  There are many people ‘behind the scenes’ that we don’t often think about, who are keeping the necessities going for us, during this time.

Go forth and create, my friend! Stay healthy, and be sure to check back often for more news from the crafting world.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
