One Card, Two Challenges

ONE CARD, TWO CHALLENGES

My card today is doing double duty, for both the Paper Craft Crew theme challenge, and the Paper Players sketch challenge. I don’t usually combine challenges, especially since I’m on the design team for the Paper Craft Crew, but I really liked the Paper Players sketch! So here I am with one card, two challenges.

PAPER CRAFT CREW THEME CHALLENGE

The theme for this week’s Paper Craft Crew challenge is ‘Favourite New Product’. Hmmm…well, I know a lot of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators went to the recent convention, and pre ordered new products. But, I wasn’t one of those demos! So, what to do?  Well, the newest Stampin’ Up! products I’ve got is my November Paper Pumpkin kit – so I created an alternate card with the supplies from the kit!

PAPER PLAYERS SKETCH

Here is the sketch that I fell in love with – I just had to use it!

ALTERNATE PAPER PUMPKIN CARD

Finally – here is my card!

One Card, Two Challenges

Ta-da! I used the Paper Pumpkin card base, and cut strips from two of the plaid panels to use. I also  used the lovely braided linen thread for the bow.

CARD DETAILS

First, cut a panel of Cherry Cobbler cardstock. Spritz it with water, then emboss it using the Big Shot and the Basket Weave 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The reason for spritzing with water first is so that the fibres of the cardstock don’t tear, when using this deeply textured folder.

Next, cut two strips from each of the plaid panels in the November Paper Pumpkin kit. Cut two strips of Crumb Cake cardstock 1/4″ larger than the strips, and layer them underneath, with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  For the sentiment, cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, and another piece of Crumb Cake, again 1/4″ larger. Stamp the sentiment, from the Paper Pumpkin kit stamp  set, first in Versamark ink then in Cherry Cobbler ink. Cover with Clear Embossing Powder, and then set with the Heat Tool.

Layer all of the pieces as per the sketch, with more Dimensionals. Tie a small bow with the Cherry Cobbler braided Linen thread from the kit, and attach it with a Mini Glue Dot underneath the sentiment.

To finish off the card front, I added some of the gold sequins from the Paper Pumpkin kit, and then added a gold Metallic Pearl in the middle of each one – just for some extra WOW!

One Card, Two Challenges

Doesn’t that look pretty cool, with the Metallic Pearl in the middle of the sequin? Ok, small things keep me happy! 🙂

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project; whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :) If you're in Canada, you can Join My Team as a SU! demonstrator. If you're in the Great Vancouver area, you're welcome to join my classes - we always have fun!
