Paper Craft Crew Challenge - Designer's Choice!

Welcome to this week’s Paper Craft Crew challenge! This week is something new – we’re doing ‘Designer’s Choice’! That means that everyone gets to choose to do whatever they want – including you! Choose the layout, stamps, colours and even the theme. It’s all up to you this week, and I can’t wait to see what you create!

PLAYING AT THE PARK

I decided to use one of my favourite MFT stamps, called Best in Show. I love Birdie Brown’s cute characters – she gives the animals such expressive faces.

Paper Craft Crew Challenge - Designer's Choice!

This scene was really easy to create, using the MFT Scene Builder stamp set.

BACKGROUND DETAILS

Start with a panel of smooth white cardstock. Set up your panel in your stamp platform – I use the MISTI – and arrange the scene stamps how you want it to look. Pick up the stamps with the lid, and then stamp them in a mid-green ink. I chose the Stampin’ Up! Old Olive ink.  Now you can remove your panel, and colour in your background.

For the grass, I went over the lines with the mid-green in my Light Green Blends Tri-Blend marker.  The tree and bushes were coloured using all 3 of the greens in this marker. Next, use a blender brush to add Shabby Shutters Distress ink for the grass. Then add some darker shading by blending on some Mowed Lawn Distress ink.

For the sky, blend Salty Ocean across the top of the panel, getting lighter as you move towards the grass area. Leave some white space between the sky and the grass. For the little flowers, use the Spectrum Noir Illustrator marker in Soft Purple (PL1).

PLAYFUL PUPS

On a separate piece of smooth white cardstock, stamp the two dog images from Best in Show in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I chose to use my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers for colouring. Neutral Brown (EB2) and Sand (EB1) are for the brown dog, with the Dusty Pink (FS2) for the inner ear on both dogs.  I lightened the Sand tummy & paws by going over those areas with Cream (FS6). I don’t have the grays in the Illustrator markers, so I used my Stampin’ Up! Blends markers, which are also alcohol based. Using the light and dark, the gray dog is created, with a little Dusty Pink nose.

Next, use your die cutting machine with the coordinating Best in Show dies to die cut each dog. Attach them to the background panel, using foam tape or squares. Stamp the sentiment, from Best in Show, in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink onto a strip of white cardstock. Cover it with clear embossing powder, and heat set. Attach it to the top left, with more foam tape.

To finish off the card, attach the panel to a layer of bright yellow cardstock, and then a dark blue card base. This makes for a sunny, playful card – perfect for summertime!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :)
