Paper Craft Crew Fancy Fold Challenge

Are you up for it? This week, it’s a Paper Craft Crew fancy fold challenge! I love learning new fancy folds, so I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Paper Craft Crew Fancy Fold Challenge

I tried a new-to-me fold, and I’m going to apologize up front – it’s not an easy one to photograph!

I *think* this is called a triangle fold card – but I could be wrong! I copied the directions ages ago from who knows where, but didn’t write down the name of the fold. What can I say?! Anyway, it makes a cute little card, so I hope you enjoy it!

Because of the angled folds, the card doesn’t like to stay closed on it’s own. So, I had to use a clip to hold it closed for the photo.

Start with a Balmy Blue cardstock base of 7 1/4″ x 4 1/4″. Score at 2 1/2″ and 5″. Fold inward (towards the middle of the card on both of these score lines.

Next, you’re going to create diagonal score lines on the two end flaps. You can either use a diagonal plate on your Simply Scored tool, or like I did, use your scoring stylus and a ruler.

On the left hand flap, create a score line from the bottom left corner to the upper right corner of the flap. On the right hand flap, create a score line from the inside left corner to the upper right hand corner.

This is a very basic, obviously not-to-scale, diagram of the fold.

Next, you’ll cut the Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper. Cut 4 pieces measuring at 2 1/8″ x 4″, then cut each one on the diagonal, so that the patterns match when fitting into the folds. Trust me – you have to lay down the DSP onto the cardstock, to make sure you’re cutting the correct way – this is experience talking!  Now cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock for the inside/middle panel 2 1/4″ x 4″.

Before gluing on the DSP with the Multipurpose Liquid Glue, fold on your score lines. First, fold inward on the 2 1/2″ score line. On the left flap, fold outwards on the diagonal score line. Burnish the score lines with your Bone Folder. Next, fold inward on the 5″ score line, then outwards (to the left) on the diagonal score line.

On Whisper White cardstock, stamp the daisy image from the Daisy Delight stamp set twice in Rich Razzleberry ink, and once in Berry Burst ink. Use the Daisy Punch to punch out each flower. Stamp the middle of the flowers with So Saffron ink. Layer the 3 flowers together with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Stamp 2 of the leaf images onto white cardstock using Mint Macaron and Shaded Spruce. Cut them out by hand, with Paper Snips. Use the liquid glue to attach the daisy to the Pearlized Doily, then add the leaves in between the layers. Attach the daisy to only the  front diagonal flap on the right hand side, with the liquid glue. Finish off the daisy by adding a clear Faceted Gem to the middle.

On the panel of white cardstock for the inside, stamp the sentiment from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set in Balmy Blue ink. Stamp 2 of the small daisy flowers in Rich Razzleberry ink.

The photo above shows what the card looks like laying open.  The photo below shows it standing on it’s own (I told you it wouldn’t stay closed!)

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

    1. Thanks, Susan. So glad you like it! I have a bit of trouble with angle corner folds…but it’s not too bad for a first try!

    1. Glad you like the fun fold, Buffy! I hope you’ll have a look at the great folds by the rest of the design team, too 🙂

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
