Paper Craft Crew Two Week Challenge

PAPER CRAFT CREW TWO WEEK CHALLENGE

Okay stampers – no excuses this time! You have plenty of time to enter the Paper Craft Crew two week challenge! Due to the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, everyone gets an extra week to join in this sketch challenge.

PCC314 – TWO WEEK SKETCH CHALLENGE

Here’s the sketch for you to work from.

Paper Craft Crew Two Week Challenge

Oooh – look at all that white space! Will you leave it ‘white’, or will you create a background? Perhaps you’ll use designer series paper? You’re free to use whatever stamp set and colour combination you want, as long as you stay with the sketch layout. Speaking of the layout – you can also change that, by flipping it on it’s side, or upside down. I can’t wait to see what you’ll do – since you have 2 weeks! *wink*

DASHING DEER

As you can see below, I decided to keep the orientation of the sketch as is, but I used Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper for my background. Unfortunately, if you read my Monday post, this DSP is now no longer available for order, as the supply has run out, and Stampin’ Up! will not be able to re-stock from the supplier before Christmas. I promise –  I created my card before this update came out, so I didn’t use it just to be cruel! The good news is that there is LOTS more other pretty paper for you to choose from, that is in stock.

My colour palette for this card is Merry Merlot, Sahara Sand, and Gold.

CARD DETAILS

Start with a cardstock base of Sahara Sand, then added 2 panels. One of Merry Merlot cardstock, then one of the reindeer pattern from the Joyous Noel Specialty DSP. Next, measure out the size you need in Whisper White cardstock, to fit the reindeer in the Dashing Deer stamp set. Use the Stampin’ Trimmer to cut the Whisper White, then a square of Merry Merlot cardstock 1/4″ larger.  Stamp the deer image in Versamark ink onto the white cardstock, then cover it with Gold Embossing Powder. Shake off any excess powder, then set with the Heat Tool. Layer the image piece on top of the Merlot cardstock, with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Cut a strip of Gold Foil Paper, then cut banner tails on each end, with Paper Snips. Attach it behind the panels with Liquid Glue. Finally, attach these to the card base with Dimensionals.

Next, cut a strip of white cardstock, and stamp the sentiment from the Dashing Deer stamp set onto it, with Versamark ink. Cover it with Gold Embossing Powder, and heat set. Cut a small strip of Merry Merlot cardstock, and glue it behind the sentiment with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Attach these to the card front with Dimensionals.

Die cut a small star from Gold Foil Paper – I used my retired Layering Stars framelits – and attach it to the bottom corner of the image panel. Add some Metallic Pearls in gold to the card front, to finish it off.

I like how the large deer is the same as the smaller, white ones in the DSP pattern!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project; whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :) If you're in Canada, you can Join My Team as a SU! demonstrator. If you're in the Great Vancouver area, you're welcome to join my classes - we always have fun!

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
