Paper Players Sketch Challenge

Hello stamping friend! I’m here today to share a card a created for the Paper Players Sketch challenge.. But before I go on, I have news. In case you’ve been following the saga of my broken Big Shot, . It’s fixed!!  Hurrah for my hubby who knows his tools and machine parts. *Phew!* Now that the drama of that is over, let’s move on to the good stuff!

PP443 Paper Player Sketch Challenge

This is the sketch for the current challenge.

I liked this layout, so my card stays with that. I just changed the images from flowers, to suit my card.

SOMEBUNNY SPECIAL

I used the very cute My Favorite Things (MFT) stamp set and dies called Sweet Somebunny.  It has lots of cute bunnies and accessories to create scenes. I decided to keep it simple, and use just a few of the images. Thank goodness for coordinating dies – and a fixed Big Shot!

Isn’t she sweet? And the way her feet are – she looks just like me, after a long day of shopping! Sore feet (paws) and looking for a place to sit with a favourite beverage 🙂

CARD DETAILS

For the background panel, start with a piece of white cardstock. Spray the entire panel with Distress Oxide Spray in Faded Jeans. This was my first time using one of these new Oxide Sprays, and I was very happy with how easily it covered the panel. After spraying, I did spray and add some water drops to the panel. I must say, in this I was disappointed that the ink wasn’t very reactive – not at all what I’d seen in videos I had watched. Perhaps it’s the colour? Oh well! If you look very closely, you may be able to see some lighter areas, where the larger drops did cause a reaction.

Next, move onto the panel strip. Again, start with a piece of white cardstock; mine measures 2″ x 3 3/4″. Use a Blender Brush to create an ombre effect, applying Distress inks to the panel. From top to bottom (lightest to darkest) I used Mustard Seed, Abandoned Coral, Spiced Marmalade Distress inks colours. No water spray or drops were added to this piece; as I was quite happy with how it turned out.

Now, attach the distress strip to the blue panel with liquid glue, and then attach them both to a panel of bright yellow cardstock. This is then attached to a card base of light orange. This ties together the colours in the ombre strip.

IMAGE DETAILS

Stamp the bunny, bags and butterfly images from the Sweet Somebunny  stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto white cardstock. Use your favourite markers or pencils for colouring. I used my Stampin’ Up! alcohol markers for mine.  After colouring, use the coordinating Sweet Somebunny dies and die cut all of the images. Attach them to the card front, with foam squares or tape, cut to fit.

To finish off the card, stamp the sentiment in Versamark ink onto another strip of white cardstock that has been blended with the Abandoned Coral Distress ink. Cover it with white embossing powder, and set with a heat tool. Attach it to the card front with more foam tape.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :)
