PCC234 Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge!

You’ve really been rocking our challenges lately. I always have fun seeing your projects, and reading how you created them.  I know you’ll like this week’s PCC234 Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge with the Design Team.

The fun elements included in this sketch, along with the blank space, give you lots of room for creativity.  I pulled out one of my favourite stamp set, Beautiful You, for my card.

To incorporate the Designer Paper panel at the top into my design, I used the leafy branch design from the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack.  I love the photo realism in these patterns.  Using this design makes  it appear as if my stamped lady is dancing under the leaves.

First I stamped the Beautiful You image onto the panel of Whisper White cardstock in Memento Black ink.  To tie in the colours of the DSP and cardstock, I decided to do a technique called ‘paper piecing’.  By stamping the image 2 more times onto another pattern from the Serene Scenery DSP, I was able to hand cut and layer the dress and hat.

With the first layer, the entire dress and hat were cut out, and attached over top of the stamped image with Mini Glue Dots.  For the next layer, I hand cut the skirt and hat just on the inside of the stamped lines, and layered them again with Mini Glue Dots.  Doing this gave extra layers of dimension, and makes the image ‘pop’ off of the page.

After creating the image, I added the dots from the Timeless Textures stamp set in Delightful Dijon ink.

Next came the layering.   First, the leaf patterned DSP is  glued to the stamped panel.  Next, retired Gold Cording Trim is wound around the top, and tied off into a bow.  The banners in Delightful Dijon and Serene Scenery DSP are attached over top of that, with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The Delightful Dijon cardstock is embossed with the Elegant Dots embossing folder.  Each of the banner ends were created by using the Banner Triple Punch.  2 leaves are die cut in Old Olive cardstock using the Stylish Stems Framelits, and the sentiment is stamped in Delightful Dijon ink .  Finally, they are all layered over the banners.

Now it’s your turn to create a card and enter into the challenge!  First you’ll want to head over to the Paper Craft Crew blog page, and check out the amazing cards done by the rest of the Design Team.  Then, create your card and link it to the challenge.  I’ll be looking forward to seeing your card!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :)
