Welcome to PCC237 – this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge!

PCC237 Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge

We have another great sketch challenge for you this week!  This one gives you a lot of design options; I can’t wait to see what you create.

Avant Garden

PCC237 Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge

I chose to use the lovely Sale-A-Bration stamp set Avant Garden for my focal point.  The cute little bumble bee comes from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies.  To create the background I pulled out the Work of Art set, which is in the Annual Catalogue.

My card base is of the pretty Sweet Sugarplum cardstock.  I created 2 panels in Whisper White cardstock; one measuring 4″ x 5 1/4″, and the other for my focal point using the Layering Squares Framelits.  The Sweet Sugarplum layer behind the stamped image was die cut using the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits. To create the banner from Mint Macaron cardstock, I simply cut a 1″ strip and used my Paper Snips to cut the tails on each end.

I used the brush stroke image from the Work of Art stamp set and Mint Macaron ink for the background, and added the dots image from the Avant Garden set in Mint Macaron, Delightful Dijon and Sweet Sugarplum ink.  The sentiment is stamped on the bottom right corner is from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set.  You can still purchase the Bundle of Dragonfly Dreams and the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits, and save 10% on the combined cost!  There’s no guarantee that the bundle will carry over to the new catalogue in June, so act quickly for the discounted price!

To layer the flowers, I first stamped the one in front, then masked it off before stamping the one behind.  I then masked off the flowers to stamp the leaves.  It’s a really easy technique to use, and gives you a look of true depth in your stamping.  The flowers are in Sweet Sugarplum ink and the leaves in Mint Macaron.  Delightful Dijon ink is the flower centers.

After die cutting the bee in Basic Black cardstock, I brushed it with the Wink of Stella Clear pen, to add some glimmer to it; you can see it in the picture.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :)

  1. Great card Deb. So soft and feminine looking. I like how you incorporated all the stamp sets and accessories. They work perfect together. Avant Garde was one of those sleeper sets that turned out to be so awesome, and I love how you’ve featured it here. Thanks for sharing.
