Welcome to this week’s Paper Craft Crew PCC293 Sketch Challenge! I hope you’ve got your stampin’ hat on, because this is a good one.
PCC293 SKETCH CHALLENGE
I love the focal area off to one side, but big enough to command attention. You can get creative with this one!
I chose one of my favourite stamp sets, Waterfront, to use in the focal area.
Do you spot some new products used in my card? You’re right! Read on for the details.
Create your focal image on Whisper White cardstock. Use the Waterfront stamp set and first, stamp the mountains in the new Gray Granite ink. Next, stamp the large water image in the new Balmy Blue ink, then add the accent water in Tranquil Tide. Add some trees behind the mountain in Pear Pizzazz ink.
On a separate piece of Whisper White, stamp the large leaf from the new Rooted in Nature stamp set, with Sahara Sand ink. Now use the Big Shot with the Stitched Shapes Framelits to die cut the image oval, and the next larger oval from Sahara Sand cardstock. Use the Nature’s Roots Thinlits to die cut the leaf.
The panel for your focal image is a 3 3/4″ x 5″ panel of Whisper White cardstock. Use the large water image and new Pineapple Punch ink to create the background. Next, cut a strip of Tranquil Tide cardstock, and layer it across the stamped background. Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach it. Now you can layer the 2 ovals on top, with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Attach the leaf to the left side of the oval, and add a double bow of Linen Thread, with Mini Glue Dots.
Stamp the sentiment from the Rooted in Nature stamp set in Tranquil Tide ink, to the right of the image, underneath the cardstock strip. Finish off the front panel by adding some Subtle Enamel Dots in Sahara Sand.
Attach your front panel to a panel of Sahara Sand cardstock with Dimensionals. Then, attach it to your Tranquil Tide cardstock card base.
I love this small combination of Waterfront and Rooted in Nature; I know I’m going to be using them together a LOT in the coming year!
I know I always say it, but it bears repeating; always add a light or neutral colour panel inside your card, so that your sentiment/greeting can be read! Especially with a dark colour like Tranquil Tide.
I’m not sure when I’m going to use this card (or give it to someone), so I didn’t stamp a sentiment. I couldn’t just leave it blank, though – so I stamped the trees from the Waterfront set, in Tranquil Tide ink.
