Welcome to this week’s PCC341 Sketch challenge! This week, we at the Paper Craft Crew have a sketch challenge for you to join. I’ve gotta say – I have been loving the creativity in our recent challenges. You’ve really risen to – well, the challenge! I can’t wait to see what you do with this one.
PCC341 SKETCH CHALLENGE
So, here’s the sketch. Remember, you can change the orientation, the focal shapes and of course use whatever colours you want. That includes stamp sets, and embellishments. As long as we can recognize the sketch, when we view your card, you’re good to go!
PERFECT PAIRING BUTTERFLY
I pulled out one of my favourite recent stamps, called Perfect Pairing by Penny Black. It has 2 gorgeous butterfly images, but they’re a bit different. The pattern inside the wings is made up of flowers! So, I decided to stay pretty true to the sketch this time, using the oval shapes for my focal image.
I’ve been seeing lots of butterflies around recently; that’s probably what drew me to use this stamp set.
On a piece of white cardstock, stamp the sideways butterfly image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. For easy colouring, I chose to use my Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. I chose a combination of Light Daffodil Delight and Light Calypso Coral for the flowers. For the leaves and body, the Combo of Old Olive is used. When finished colouring, die cut the image with an oval die. At the same time, die cut another oval of the same size in Calypso Coral cardstock. Cut a strip of Old Olive cardstock, and snip banner tails on each end.
Decide where you will be placing the strip onto a white cardstock panel, and then mask off the area above it, with Purple Tape. Use the leaf image from the Perfect Pairing stamp set, and stamp the leaves repeatedly along the masked line.
Layer the green cardstock strip on top of the Calypso Coral oval with liquid glue. Attach the image oval on top of that with foam tape, offsetting it to the right. Now attach both oval and strip to the white panel, with liquid glue. Attach your front panel to a card base of Calypso Coral cardstock. Finish off your card by adding some black rhinestones, or other embellishments.
I think this card can actually qualify as ‘clean and simple’! That’s pretty unusual, for me. The great thing is that you can add a sentiment strip to the front later, once you decide to send the card. It could be used for lots of occasions, such as birthday, thinking of your or sympathy.
