Happy Wednesday, my friend! Well, through a series of unfortunate events – Hurricane Dorian being one of them – this challenge didn’t happen last week. But that’s okay – because that means that now I can participate – and so can you! It’s the PCC350 Sketch Challenge with the Paper Craft Crew. Let’s have a look at the sketch, shall we?
This is what we’ll be working from this week. Remember that you have freedom to flip the sketch to suit your needs. You can also change the focal shape – perhaps you like squares more than ovals! And of course, the choice of colours, stamps, etc. is up to you! I’m looking forward to seeing what you create, because I’ll be honest – this one WAS a bit of a challenge for me!
RAIN OR SHINE
I knew I was going to keep the oval shapes, but I didn’t want to use flowers for my image. Which meant no leaves….what to do? It also had to be something that would fit inside that oval. Lawn Fawn to the rescue!
The images in this Lawn Fawn Rain or Shine stamp set are perfectly sized for this card! And, it has several small sentiments to go with it – perfect.
Start by die cutting your 2 ovals; one from white cardstock, one from dark blue. On the dark blue one, stamp the raindrops from the Rain or Shine set in Versamark ink. Cover them with clear embossing powder, and heat set. On the white oval, stamp the rainbow/sun image in Nocturne ink. Cover it with clear embossing powder, and heat set. Use your markers to colour in the images. I chose to use both Spectrum Noir Tri-Blends (in Citrus and Light Green) as well as some Stampin’ Blends markers (in Bermuda Bay, Cherry Cobbler and Calypso Coral). Now, spray some Sheer Shimmer Craft Spray in Frost over the oval, for some extra shine.
Stamp the 3 sentiments onto a strip of white cardstock in Nocturne ink. Heat set it with clear embossing powder, and then cut into 3 strips. Use the matching Rain or Shine dies to die cut several clouds from white cardstock. Use a silver marker, and add a ‘silver lining’ to each cloud. See what I did there?!
Now it’s time to layer all the pieces together onto a panel of turquoise cardstock, using either foam tape or squares. Finish off the front panel with a few rhinestones, and then finally attach it to a bright yellow card base.
