Today I’m sharing a card with you that I made to play along with the Paper Players sketch challenge! I liked the layout, so once I decided which stamp set to use, I knew I had to make it. I’ve had this Peaceful Season stamp set by Penny Black for over a year; I just love the sentiments. This is what the sketch looks like.
PAPER PLAYERS SKETCH 469
If you’d like to play along, you can click on the sketch image above – I’ve linked it to the challenge. As with any sketch, you can change up the orientation, or the main focal shape. That’s the only change I made, for my project.
I had fun creating my card, combining the ‘older’ stamp set with some newer products.
The sparkle from the embossing glitter is just amazing, in real life!
Start with a square of white cardstock, turned sideways to make a triangle. Set up the cardstock and stamp set in your MISTI or other stamp platform, so that you can do multiple inking. First, ink up the stamp with red ink, and stamp. Next, clean off the stamp, and ink up with Versamark ink. Remove the panel from the stamp platform, and cover it with Ranger Sticky Embossing Powder. Heat set this with a heat tool; this activates the powder so that it becomes very sticky, like glue. Now, cover it with WOW Red Glitz embossing glitter, and heat set again. I did try adding the embossing glitter directly onto the wet ink, but some of it brushed off. It sticks much better with the Sticky embossing powder!
Now create your card base of red cardstock. Layer a panel of the beautiful brushed gold from Gina K. Designs on top, with glue. For the 2 strips, use one of red cardstock. The other is a left over strip of stenciling I had done for another card – I’ll be sharing that one with you another day! Attach the strips with more glue, and then layer on your focal piece with foam tape.
On the stenciled strip, the berries are covered with the Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone, which adds a bit more sparkle to this already sparkly card!
