Inspiration Challenge Extended

PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE – YEAH OR NAY?

How do you vote on the Pumpkin Spice Latte – yeah or nay? Sometimes I think I’m the only person on the planet who does NOT care for pumpkin spice lattes! Seriously! For one, I don’t like pumpkin. I think it’s probably due to having to gut my own pumpkins since I was a child, old enough to handle a big spoon. *ugh* Even when my boys were young, they did not like gutting their own pumpkins –  they would do a couple of scoops, then make me do the rest! It was either I do it, or they go uncarved 🙁  Well, nothing sadder than a partially scooped pumpkin. Before you ask – no, I don’t like eating pumpkin pie, either. Not even roasted pumpkin seeds. The whole pumpkin craze has just passed me by! Unless it’s carved and on my doorstep (or better yet – carved & on someone else’s doorstep!) or sitting in a field somewhere, I can leave pumpkins no problem.

But for today – today, I will  share a pumpkin spice latte-themed card with you, all for the sake of the Paper Craft Crew inspiration challenge!

PCC307 – INSPIRATION CHALLENGE

Pumpkin Spice Latte - Yeah or Nay?

Here it is – your inspiration! Whether you like coffee, tea, mulled wine (hey, that sounds good!) or pumpkin spice lattes, it’s up to you to design your project! Choose your colours, stamp set, etc., just stay with the inspiration provided, and get creative.

HELLO, FALL!

For my card, I combined a couple of current favourites, with a retired one. I used the Merry Cafe stamp set, Rooted in Nature Bundle, and the retired Merry Cafe stamp set.

CARD FRONT DETAILS

Once I knew what stamp sets I was going to use, the next decision was what background to create. Since fall is ‘pumpkin spice latte season’, I chose the Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper. From that, I pulled the colours I would use.

Start with a panel of the wood texture looking design from the Nature’s Poem DSP. Add a strip of the leaf design to the left hand side. Next, add a Pearlized Doily in the bottom third of the panel. Next step is to create your leaves. Use the Big Shot with the Nature’s Roots Framelits and cardstock in Cajun Craze, Mint Macaron and Merry Merlot. Die cut 1 large leaf and 1 of the leaf trios in Cajun Craze; 2 small leaves in Mint Macaron, and one small leaf in Merry Merlot. Next, use the Big Shot with the Big Shot Embossing Mats and embossing framelits in the Nature’s Roots Framelits to emboss the die cut leaves.

Stamp the coffee cup and lid images from the Coffee Cafe stamp set, in Memento ink onto Whisper White cardstock. Die cut them with the Big Shot and Coffee Cup Framelits Dies. Stamp the leaf outlines on the cup with Cajun Craze ink, then the inside colour in Crushed Curry ink.  Next, attach the lid to the cup, with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Create the sleeve by stamping the outline shape in Soft Suede ink onto white cardstock, then die cut it. Stamp the sentiment in the middle, from the retired Merry Cafe stamp set in Cajun Craze ink. Attach the sleeve onto the middle of the cup, with Dimensionals.

Attach the leaves with liquid glue on top of the doily, then attach the cup on top of those, with Dimensionals. Finish off the card front by adding a Leaves Trinket in copper to the sleeve with Tear & Tape, and scatter a few Faceted Dots to the front, in Mint Macaron and Blackberry Bliss. Attach your front panel onto a cardstock base of Mint Macaron.

I like the repeating leaves all through the theme on the card front.

CARRY OVER THE LEAVES TO THE INSIDE

Stamping inside your card always adds something extra, that the recipient may not expect. Add a panel of Whisper White cardstock, and stamp the sentiment from the Coffee Cafe stamp set in Cajun Craze ink. Repeat the stamping of the small leaves from the retired Merry Cafe set on the top right and bottom left of the panel.

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to stamp and create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project; whether a 3D item, or a card, or scrapbook page - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you stamp and create with me! :) If you're in Canada, you can Join My Team as a SU! demonstrator. If you're in the Great Vancouver area, you're welcome to join my classes - we always have fun!

  1. Really cute card, Deborah! I don’t mind pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, or even pumpkin seeds, but don’t put ANYTHING in my coffee except coffee. So another vote against pumpkin spice lattee.

    1. I’m not quite the coffee purist as you, Buffy. I do take milk & sugar, and do enjoy a caramel macchiato 🙂 I’ll leave all the pumpkin flavours to you, though – outside of coffee!

  2. I I LOVE Pumpkin Spice latte, whenever I can get it! I also like Pumpkin Spice Coffee Mate in my coffee. I just discovered Belvita breakfast biscuits in Pumpkin flavor, yum!

    1. Wow – you really ARE a pumpkin spice fan, Stephanie! I’ll be sure to share your Belvita breakfast biscuits discovery with my other pumpkin spice loving friends! 🙂 Thanks for visiting & voting!

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
