ROOTED IN NATURE FLOWER
Welcome to this week’s sketch challenge, with the Paper Craft Crew! As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew exactly what I was going to do. I created a Rooted in Nature flower! I’ve been thinking of this since I first saw the stamps and dies, and this was the perfect opportunity. Have a look at the sketch, and see if you can guess what I did.
PCC303 SKETCH CHALLENGE
Look at that huge, glorious flower! Yes, I could’ve gone with the Daisy Punch – but I thought ‘not big enough’. Of course, you don’t even have to stay with the flower shape at all. Change the focal shape to whatever you like! Just stay with the basic sketch, and let you imagination go wild!
ROOTED IN NATURE FLOWER
Did you guess? I used the small leaf image stamp from the Rooted in Nature stamp set, and the matching die from the Nature’s Roots Framelits.
I used one of our newest colours, Mango Melody. I love the fresh crisp look of this colour!
Creating the ‘flower petals’ is easy. On Whisper White cardstock, stamp the small detailed leaf image from the Rooted in Nature set 12 times, in Mango Melody ink. Use the Big Shot with the Nature’s Roots Framelits to die cut all 12 leaves. Punch a circle from Grapefruit Grove cardstock with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch. Layer the die cut leaves around the circle, with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I started by laying down 4 leaves; one each at the top, bottom, left and right (or north, south, east and west) on the circle. The next layer filled in the spots in between those 4, and so on, until all your leaves are attached.
Place another 1 3/4″ Circle on top, to cover where the leaves are glued. Next, die cut a detailed circle from Mango Melody cardstock with the Eastern Medallion Thinlits and the Big Shot. The one I used doesn’t actually cut out the circle, just the die cuts. I used the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, to punch out the detailed die cut. Attach the detailed die cut on top with Mini Glue Dots.
Create your card base from Mango Melody cardstock. Attach a panel of the Wood Textures DSP to the front, with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Attach your flower to the middle of the panel. Add some sparkle to the middle of the flower by brushing the die cut area with the Wink of Stella pen. Allow it to dry, while you create the sentiment.
Stamp the sentiment, from the Colorful Seasons stamp set, in Mango Melody ink onto a length of Whisper White. Use Paper Snips to create banner tails on each end. Now attach it to the flower, just below the middle. Add a bow, tied with Baker’s Twine in Whisper White. Finally, finish off your card front by adding some Faceted Dots in Grapefruit Grove.
The Wink of Stella is difficult to see; in the above picture, you can just see some of the shimmer. I also added one of the Faceted Dots to the very centre of the flower.
As always, add a panel of Whisper White cardstock to the inside of your card. I added one of the sentiments from the All the Good Things stamp set, then stamped several of the leaf images on the inside edges. This helps tie together the inside with the front design.
