Hello stamping friend!

I had a very enjoyable weekend – the snow held off, and I was able to hold my Sale-A-Bration Kick Off Party, with some wonderful ladies!

The weather here in Vancouver has been like it has in a lot of areas across the globe – very cold, very snowy, and very icy!  So when the weather announcer called for snow on Sunday afternoon, I held my breath and crossed my fingers!  Luckily, we dodged the snowfall, and just got rain!  (yes, it’s very odd for me to be happy for rain, as we usually get a LOT of it here!).

This was my set up; the dining table for stamping, and an extra table with my cards displayed, and lots of new products:

Like a lot of people, I don’t have a dedicated ‘stamp room’ or ‘studio’, so I use our dining room table for crafting, as well as storage for a lot of my supplies – as you can see by the racks of cardstock and designer series paper in the background!  And I set up my display table in the living room; my husband and 2 sons are very understanding and accommodating, and they leave the upstairs to me and my customers as we ‘do our thing’! 🙂

After explaining Sale-A-Bration (how you choose 1 free item from the Sale-A-Bration brochure for every $60 spent), and showing off some of the new products (isn’t the new Hexagon Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder awesome, and the Watercolour Pencils!?), one of my team members, Lynn, spotted me with some papers and said “uh-oh; she’s going to give us a quiz!”  Lynn has been to a lot of my kick off parties!

Actually, it wasn’t a quiz, but a fun Occasions catalogue ‘scavenger hunt’!  There were only 6 questions, and all of the answers could be found in the pages of the Occasions catalogue.  It was lots of fun, and it couldn’t have been that difficult, because 4 people got all 6 questions correct!  Of course there were prizes – less prizes than smart people, so Lynn had to do the ‘pick a number between 1 and 10’ to decide the winners!  It’s a good thing we’re a friendly group 🙂

Here are some pictures of everyone very studiously working away at their scavenger hunt!

Jane & Lynn
Amanda & Susan (both notoriously camera shy!)

Then it was over to do the make & take; because of the threatening weather, I thought people may have to leave early so I only planned 1, instead of the  usual 2 projects.  I am just loving the Dragonfly Dreams bundle, and had seen a card on Pinterest, I think it was, that was different from what I had already made, so we recreated that card (I’m afraid I don’t have the name of the originator – if it was you, please let me know so I can give you credit!)

We started by stamping the dots images from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set in Bermuda Bay ink onto the card base of Bermuda Bay cardstock.  Then we layered the squares that were die cut from Basic Black, Whisper White and Crumb Cake cardstock using the Big Shot and the Stitched Shapes Framelits; I stamped the dots again on the Whisper White square, in Bermuda Bay ink.

The dragonfly was stamped in Pacific Point ink onto Whisper White cardstock, and die cut using the Big Shot and the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies.  It was then attached to the Crumb Cake square, using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped onto Whisper White cardstock in Pacific Point ink; I just used the Paper Snips to cut the one end on an angle.  First I attached a strip of the retired Glitter Tape to the bottom right of the card front, then attached the sentiment above it, using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I forgot to take a picture of the inside, but we stamped one upper and one lower corner of the inside with the dots image, and then the sentiment in the middle (on Whisper White cardstock).   Everyone also had fun decorating the envelope with the large dragonfly stamp, too!  Envelopes always look better when they’re stamped 🙂

Of course, I was too busy helping out, and setting out the snacks, and forgot to take pictures of everyone with their cards!  But of course they all turned out beautifully 🙂

The Dragonfly Dreams is my Bundle of the Month for January – if you’re interested in purchasing the Bundle, and also getting the supplies and tutorials for making 4 different cards, check out MY POST HERE for the details.  Have I mentioned I love this set!? 🙂

Many thanks to these wonderful ladies who were able to make it out to my party; for those who couldn’t make it that I haven’t already talked to – if you’d like your catalogue mailed to you, just send me a short email at debsmart@shaw.ca, and I’ll take care of that for you.  I’m heading off to the post office tomorrow!

Thanks for spending some time with me today; I hope you’ll come back tomorrow, when I’ll be sharing my Design Team card for the Paper Craft Crew challenge.

Until next time – happy stamping!

I've always liked to create things, but I'm not a great artist, or sculptor, or any type of 'traditional' artist - but I love to create! I love the satisfaction of a completed project. Whether a card, painting or other project - as long as it can create a smile, evoke a feeling, or some type of reaction in the recipient. I hope you will enjoy sharing my creations, and occasional ramblings; I'd enjoy having you create with me! :)

I love to read what you have to say! Thanks for commenting ;)
