Snarky New Year Scrap ‘N Stamp Blog Hop

Happy New Year! Let’s start the year off with some good-humoured snark, shall we?! It’s our very first 2020 Snarky New Year Scrap ‘N Stamp Blog Hop. This is all in good fun; some sassy, tongue-in-cheek humour shared among friends. We all have those people in our lives (or maybe like me, you’re one of them) who appreciate a good sassy remark, or snarky comment on the state of things. That’s our goal for this Hop; to share with you some of our favourite snappy sentiments!

SNARKY NEW YEAR

I combined a couple of stamp sets for my card; one new, and one a bit older. (Hey – I’m ‘a bit older’ – nothing wrong with that!). The sentiment comes from the Ranger/ Dyan Reavelley ‘Laugh ‘Til You Leak’ stamp set, with the image from MFT’s ‘a la modes Cheers’ set.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes during ‘events’ when there’s lots of people, I just *feel* this sentiment! No one believes me when I say that I’m an introvert; I can be social, & enjoy myself, but it takes a lot out of me!

CARD DETAILS

First create the background panel. Start with a light pink cardstock, and blend Picked Raspberry Distress Ink around the edges, getting lighter towards the middle. Starting with the coloured cardstock means less work for you in blending colours. Next, set up the panel and the sentiment stamp in your stamp platform. Ink up the stamp with Versamark ink, and stamp. Repeat the inking & stamping at least once more, to ensure full coverage with the ink. Cover the stamping with WOW gold embossing powder, and heat set. Next, create a mask to cover the sentiment, and flick gold onto the panel using the Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen in Midas Touch. To do this, squeeze some of the ink out of the pen onto a slick surface, and then pick it up with the brush tip. Tap the pen onto the side of one finger, creating the gold drops.

On a piece of white cardstock, stamp the image in Nocturne ink. Cover with clear embossing powder, and heat set. I do this extra embossing step just to ensure to smudging or smearing of the outline. Colour the dress and shoes with Copic red markers R29 and R35. For the hair, I chose my Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend Marker in Gold Brown. The champagne is made sparkly by colouring it with the Nuvo Midas Touch pen. You can’t really see it in the  photo above, but I also added dots of gold onto the skirt of the dress, for extra shine.  Now, use the matching ‘a la modes Cheers’ die to die cut the image.

LAYER IT TOGETHER

Attach the die cut image to your stamped/blended panel using foam tape. Create a card base of the same light pink you used for the main image panel. Next, offset a smaller panel of dark pink, and then a panel of metallic gold cardstock on top, with glue. Finally, attach your image panel with fun foam or foam tape. To finish off the card, add a few gold enamel dots on the bottom right and upper left corners of the card base.
