Now for our Blog Tour – are you ready to be dazzled by some amazing designs?! You'll find that we have tried to make designs that you'll not only LOVE, but will be able to make at home, yourself! It's wonderful seeing amazing works of art, don't get me wrong – but it's also great to see a card or project that you can look at and say to yourself "I can do that!" 🙂
The Tour goes in a circular fashion, so no matter where you start, as long as you keep clicking on the "NEXT" button at the end of each post, you'll go through all 7 participating blogs.
So without further ado – here is my first card!
I love this new photopolymer stamp said "Age Awareness"! Being a photopolymer set, you can literally see right through the stamps, so lining up words is a snap – even without your Stamp-a-ma-jig! I made my own background on Whisper White cardstock, using the Hearts & Stars Decorative Masks – the Stars mask, obviously! I place a Post-it® note horizontally mid-line on the cardstock, then used a Sponge Dauber to sponge the stars on the top half. Then, I switched the Post-it® note to cover the top half, and sponged more stars on the bottom half of the cardstock. This gave me a nice 'clustered' look of stars around the middle. Still not enough stars for me, though! I then used the small star stamp from the 'Something to Say' stamp set, and randomly added more stars.
I love how the star in 'Something to Say' has the small lines in it, just like the lines in the Happy Birthday stamp! You can see them in this close-up. Talk about coordination! Of course, I had to add even more stars – using the In Colour Sequins Assortment, I chose a few Crisp Cantaloupe and Coastal Cabana stars to add to my card front. Just for a little extra fun, I made a tiny pom-pom using our Thick Baker's Twine in Crisp Cantaloupe.
Of course coordination is key (and super easy!) with Stampin' Up!® products – I used Pacific Point ink and cardstock, as well as Soft Sky ink and cardstock. Have I said lately how easy Stampin' Up!® makes it for us to make amazing projects with just a few supplies; all coordinating?! Gotta love it! 🙂
My next card uses another one of my new favourite sets – "Choose Happiness".
I could have made this a simple 1 layer card, but just couldn't stop myself from using our Banner Framelits to cut out the 'fence' pieces! If you don't have the Framelits (why not??!! LOL) you can simply stamp the fence directly onto your card base – because that is the shape of that stamp! I stamped the fence in Crumb Cake onto Crumb Cake carstock, and aged them a bit by applying Crumb Cake ink with a sponge dauber around the edges.
I was very excited to use my new Blendabilities markers in Old Olive to colour the leaves on the branches, after stamping them in Mossy Meadow. (Did you know that you can order your own Blendabilities starting July 1st?! Oh, Happy Day!!) My Baked Brown Sugar Marker was perfect for filling in the branches!
I wanted you to be able to see the 'grass' behind the fence, so I used my Sponge Dauber and applied Mossy Meadow ink to the Whisper White cardstock base for the grass, the used a Stampin' Sponge to apply Soft Sky to the top portion for the sky.
I stamped the bird silhouette in Blackberry Bliss – another of my favourites! – and cut it out using my Paper Snips. I used my Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey Markers to colour the sentiment stamp, and punched it out with the Curly Label punch – perfect size! The fence, bird and sentiments are all popped up on the card base using Stampin' Dimensionals.
