Wow – we are having an early blast sun here on the west coast this week – summer weather has arrived! Now, before you get too jealous, you should know something. It’s also known as the ‘wet’ coast – because the rain always returns! So we make the most of good weather while it’s here. Today’s card reflects that – a beautiful day!
HAVE A BRIGHT & SUNNY DAY
I combined elements from several stamp sets for this card. The main critters are from the Lawn Fawn Upon a Star set; the sentiment is from MFT Beach Bunnies, and the little flowers are from the MFT Sweet Somebunny set. I used the coordinating dies from all of these sets, as well. Always remember these words.
Always buy the dies, and you’ll never have a craft regret again! I also combined stamping, pencil colouring and alcohol inks into this card.
Obviously, the rain has gone, and a lovely rainbow has appeared! The bunny and fox have stopped to admire it, and perhaps wonder what’s at the end of the rainbow.
You’d think that creating a rainbow would be pretty simple, right? Well, apparently I’m ‘rainbow challenged’ – it took me 4 tries to come up with this one! I do admit, I was being picky about how the colours looked; so trust me when I say that this was the best one. To create the rainbow, I took an alcohol ink applicator, and put a bit of each of Valencia, Citrus, Sailboat Blue and Amethyst on the pad. Next, I swiped the pad across the Yupo paper in an arc, to create the rainbow. Which is where my challenge came in; I’m lousy at making a smooth arc! I tried it on regular paper, but found that I got the smoothest result on the Yupo, because of it’s slick surface. Adding alcohol blending solution onto the pad before swiping made the colours too light, so I tried again without it. Hence – the 4 tries! Although it’s not a perfect arc, I decided I could live with it – I hope you can, too.
Well, after making a huge mess on my worktop making rainbows, stamping, colouring and die cutting everything else was a breeze! Onto regular white cardstock, stamp the fox & bunny from the Lawn Fawn Upon a Star stamp set, and the tree, butterfly and flowers from the MFT Sweet Somebunny set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Next, use your favourite colour medium for all of the images. I’m still learning with my Faber-Castell Polychromos coloured pencils, so I used those for my images. Stamp the sentiment from the MFT Beach Bunnies stamp set in Abandoned Coral ink onto a strip of white cardstock.
Die cut all of the images with their coordinating dies, and set them aside. Use the Lawn Fawn Grassy Border die to cut 2 pieces of green cardstock. Next, sponge a bit of Mowed Lawn Distress ink onto the grass, for extra texture.
Now you’re ready to attach all of the die cut pieces to your Yupo panel. First attach the 2 grass panels with foam tape, and then the other images with foam squares. Finally, attach the sentiment across the top of the front panel. To finish off the card, I attached the front to a panel of light blue cardstock, and then onto a darker blue card base.
The little butterfly above the sentiment is the final touch!
