Hello again stamping friends!
Thanks so much for making out Creation Station Blog Tour a success yesterday! I hope that you enjoyed all the projects, and found some inspiration for your own projects 🙂
Today I’m back to share with you the Birthday cards we made at my Sweet Treats class last Friday; I shared the Easter cards a couple of days ago.
Here’s the first card we made – this picture is actually of the card made by my team member Debbie; I had forgotten to take a picture of mine, and I sent it home with one of the class members, as she had to leave early.
This card could be used for any occasion; just change up the sentiment! The card base is Pacific Point (I love this shade of blue!), and the designer series paper is from the Painted Blooms pack. The DSP is placed on an angle, and the bordered on each side using the Crushed Curry ribbon from the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack – an option from the Sale-a-bration brochure for FREE! We used the Flower Patch stamp set, stamping the 1 flower twice in Lost Lagoon, and cutting 1 of the flowers with Paper Snips to layer them together; the other is cut out using the Big Shot and Flower Fair Framelits Dies; same with the leaves. The sentiment is also from the Flower Patch stamp set, stamped in Pacific Point ink, and punched out using the Large Oval Punch. A few Basic Rhinestone embellishments, and you have a quick card that looks like it took much more time than it did. 🙂
This next card a fun one, using the Big Day stamp set – FREE from the Sale-a-bration brochure.
I am getting so much use from my FREE Sale-a-bration items; this card not only uses the free Big Day stamp set, but also the Free Best Day Ever designer series paper. It is so easy to create the perfect card by pulling the colours you need from the designer series paper; here, I used Calypso Coral card stock for the card base, Coastal Cabana for the sentiment banner backgrounds, and Whisper White for stamping. I stamped the large sentiment twice; once in Coastal Cabana, then again in Calypso Coral, so I could cut out the ‘celebrate’ banner & layer it over the stamping, for extra dimension. To get the 2 colours in the smaller sentiment, I used my Stampin’ Write Markers in Coastal Cabana and Calypso Coral to colour directly onto the stamp, then stamp onto the card stock. It turns out beautifully, don’t you think! 🙂 Love those markers!! The balloon was stamped from the Hooray It’s Your Day stamp set – the great thing about photopolymer stamps is that you can ‘bend’ the stamp, without causing problems – that’s how I angled the string of the balloon! Two buttons from the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack balance the card nicely.
This next card also uses the Big Day stamp set – hey, I did say I was getting a lot of use from my Sale-a-bration items!
For this card, it’s all about the cake! Well, cake usually is part of a birthday celebration, right? For this one I used some retired DSP from the last Occasion Catalogue; it’s the Watercolour Wonder paper that I still haven’t used up yet – because I bought a stash of it! LOL I’m sure I’m not the only one who did that 😉
So this time, the colours pulled from the DSP are Daffodil Yellow, which I used for the card base, and Crisp Cantaloupe, which I used for the background 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and the ink for the sentiment. I stamped the cake in Memento Black ink, and coloured it with my Stampin’ Write Markers in Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush; the cake plate is coloured in Daffodil Yellow, and the candles are in Coastal Cabana and Crisp Cantaloupe. I put it all together using Stampin’ Dimensionals, and added a few 2013-15 In Colour Sequins to add some sparkle.
Our final birthday card is using a stamp set that we received at Leadership this January; it’s called Balloon Bash – it’s one of my favourite birthday sets, as it has so many (8 in total) versatile stamps to use.
We also received the Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series Paper at Leadership; here we’re using a piece that looks like confetti! Again using the DSP for my colour palette, my card base is Crushed Curry cardstock, layered with a panel of Night of Navy cardstock. The top 1/2 of the card front is Whisper White cardstock for stamping; I stamped the 3 different balloons in Crushed Curry, Night of Navy and Calypso Coral directly onto the panel. The sentiment was stamped on a smaller piece of Whisper White in Calypso Coral ink, and cut out using the Chalk Talk Framelits Dies and the Big Shot. The panels were all layered together using Stampin’ Dimensionals (I really like to add dimension to my cards), and a few Gold Sequins to finish off the card.
So there you have it! We did the total of 6 cards, had lots of fun, and time for some sweet treats, conversation and laughs!
